Re: need conexant CX2056-15Z windows xp 64 bit driver

Here's a generic workaround and not neccessarily an official conexant sound drivers and it may work for your work around for support of 64 bits. (Generic Sound Drivers)

I used this method to make win7rc 64 bit sound drivers work on a macbook that has no soundcard... and it's not supported by Apple corp or MS corp lol...but I got sound :) its funny overall, as OS X Leopard drivers are all natively in 32 bits on top of that LOL.

Anyhow this might work for you just to get some sounds working in place of an "Official Conexant sound driver"

    1. Goto http://www.realtek.com/downloads/
    2. Double Click "High Definition Audio Codecs (Software)" link
    3. Check mark "I accept the above"
    4. Choose your flavor of 64 bit sound drivers, in my case for the win7.. 64 bits support on a non existing sound card on a mac using bootcamp2.1, I used Vista Driver (32/64 bits) Driver only (ZIP file), it contains the actual setup files. As a replacement for Win7 version of the 64 bits.. in your case you would choose the xp version of thier 64 bit drivers.

May or may not work. But if I can fool a macbook with these sound drivers, it may hold the same for you as well on your xp.

    ========================

what I found on Gateway, support drivers for gateway m2626u, not sure if you have used these yet or not but listing it anyhow.

    Only VISTA...

don't download drivers from the realtek site, they're usually over 20MB and they limit your download speed to 5KB/s

Re: need conexant CX2056-15Z windows xp 64 bit driver

its full set up at 29 megs, and the transfer speeds for me is at 368 KB... you must have super slow connections

if it really that slow for you Loony , Ill upload it too Rapidshare ..

The reasoning behind getting the full setup, is so that his dual boot recognizes a driver.sys and it takes less time to get it running, sure the caps on downloading might differ from anyones speeds but it's not at 5Kb as you suggested.

There are drivers by themselves as well. But getting it from the source reduces redundant downloading too, and crapware from unreliable sources.

I've only ever had 5KB/s from realtek, no matter which mirror I use or what connection I'm on. Even when I was on T-3 at university. So I get the drivers from www.guru3d.com

no, either plugging in external speakers disables the internal ones, or it doesn't. It's a hardware feature and can't be changed.

that dosent happen with vista when i plug the speakers in the laptop speakers cut off

well i did some messing around and i kinda sort of fixed it now sound only comes out if i have a speaker pluged in. im not quite sure how i did it i switch some drivers back and forth and it worked. and xp runs circles around vista, haven't tested any games in xp yet to see if they will run faster but hopefully now that i got the sound issue fixed i cant get to that

    thanks for the help ;D

now i got a directx problem. ok to start i stupidly install directx 10 unofficial for xp l, and then updated assassins creed(which actually worked before the patch) and since then things just went wrong i keep getting this error when i try and play any new games " [put game title here]-unable to locate component. this application has failed ot start because d3dx9_36.dll(In assassins creeds case). is missing re-installing the application may fix this problem. the files there and when i try to reinstall directx 9 i get this [IMG]

i have tried deleting directx from the regersty and restarting but no luck, in dxdiag it says i have directx 10 but dxdiag 64bit says i dont have directx.

Why were you trying to install DirectX 10 on XP in the first place?

I just downloaded something called driver checker.
It scans and finds drivers that are outdated and gives you the option to update them.

    Pretty nifty.
Now I can record sound in Fraps, instead of my computer crashing.
