Need a new anime

so i dont watch a ton of anime, but every once in a while ill find one i really like
couple favs in order -
1. Cowboy bebop
2. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya- kinda ties with cowboy bebop, but endless eight makes it #2
3. Death Note
4. Vandread
5. Inuyahsa
6. Bleach ( only the first couple of seasons ) the rest were bleh.
7. X
8. Zoids
9. Blood +
10. Rurouni Kenshin / samurai X
11. Appleseed
12. Ninja scroll
13. Akira
14. Ghost in the shell
Mostly mainstream animes i guess.

A couple i did not like
1. Naruto
2. Code gease or however its spelled
3. One piece
4. Pokemon ( loved the games )
5. Chibi
Guess im looking for something closer to haruhi, probably a newer anime would be great.
Not really looking for a bot or tech anime, unless they are super secsi.
any suggestions ?

 

Well based off of everything you wrote, which is very similar to my tastes, I would suggest a few.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, not the greatest, but still great.
Psalms of the Planets Eureka Seven, another great series.
The Big O, Batman w/ Giant robots.
Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OVA or Universe, both are amazing though totally separate from each other.
Neon Genesis Evangelion, just awesome.
Cyborg 009, old but great.
Hellsing Ultimate, Vampires + WIN.

and too too many more, I cant even begin to count them.

 

Jigoku Shoujo/Hell Girl

 

ive seen most of those
Hellsing was great, but i just couldnt follow the storyline completely
big o was a love/hate thing.

Why not trying Durarara!! which is an on-going anime?

Some other good anime are:
Busou Renkin = From the creator of Rurouni Kenshin <3
Fairy Tail = An on-going anime which is like One Piece.
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 = It's about a earthquake in Tokyo.
Kaiji = Well, you must just see this CRAZY anime.

 

DB, if you liked Haruhi, take a look at Lucky Star or eve maybe Maria Holic

 

Try Full Metal Alchemist its pretty old but still pretty good
Or The Slayers Series it been on for over ten years but about 8 of those were pretty much nothing.... now they continued it.... its a funny series and
Tower Of Dru-raga is pretty good (the first episode tho is a bunch of RPG and Hentai Parodies but still its funny after that episode it get serious tho)
Tsabusa is ok too it tie with the story of xxx-holic a little
Ergo Proxy this is old but Bad Ass enough

 

At that point why not just watch Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood on Hulu.com? New Episodes every week, pretty friggin awesome compared to the original Anime.

Why Love hate with The Big O?
Also, hellsing ultimate is a series of OVAs, each an hour long and far superior to the original anime. Like FML Brotherhood, much much closer to the manga and superior the the original anime.

 

never was big on full metal alchemist, is was ok - but not great
big o was just " batman" at times as you said, which kinda threw me off
it didnt really feel like was watching an anime

lucky star is a little to cute for me, i have to admit konata rocks tho
outlaw star was awesome, it should be on my top ( i watched it many years ago ) totaly forgot about it
ive tried and tried again on full metal alchemist
FLCL was just like... wierd, i have seen the whole series, which is really short - but i kinda liked it
tenchi muyo, ive seen most of all of the series, but i even got bored of that one when i was like 10, its a decent anime
trigun was so/so - not really my kind of thing
I ADORED samurai champloo, but its soooooooo short, really really pissed me off. ( another that should definatly be near the top of my list )
wolfs rain, i loved the idea and the artwork, but there was way to much talk for what shoudl be a mainly action anime

love hina was kinda haruhi-ish, and i like it but i never watched the whole series, not enough action
