Developer Taito Publisher(s) JP Taito NA / EU Square Enix Series Space Invaders Genre(s) Shooter, Action[3] Mode(s) Single-player, multiplayer Here is my review on Space Invaders Extreme, a pretty good remake of an old classic. I downloaded this about 2 or 3 months ago. This was in honour of Space Invader's 30th Anniversary. There is also a PSP version of this, it's supposed to be nearly the same, but the graphics are crisper though, due to PSP's higher resolution. The game can also be played using the Nintendo DS Paddle Controller, which was shipped with Arkanoid DS. Space Invaders is a classic, retro game we all know and love, that is a quick, fun game to play. The simple logics and gameplay used is excellent, and can draw people in who are bored. This remake of Space Invaders called Space Invaders Extreme is pretty good. You choose your own Username for scores and stuff. There's quite a few additions and gameplay modes and tricks, the gameplay modes are Arcade, a popular and old mode on which you beat all the levels, and most of the time, try to get the highest score. Ranking mode, for adding your scores to online highscore lists and ranks. Multiplayer, for local DS wifi playing and Online Nintendo Wi-fi Connection. Options, on which you can view Highscores for each mode, change general options, and change your Username and delete all your data for a fresh start. And then there's Exit. Menus "time out" if you stay idle for too long, which is nice I guess. Controls are basically the same style, on the Menu, you can use the Keypad, and other buttons such as A to access stuff, as well as use the Stylus, but you can't use it on actual gameplay/stages, thank god, that would just make it way too awkward to play. You use A or B to shoot little bullets etc. You use Start is to pause on Stages on which you can use to quit, or continue. It's basically all the same, there's a group of enemies in a bunch, which move from side to side on the screen, and then when they get to an edge of the screen, they move down a row, getting closer and closer to you, which overall makes it harder for you, as their bullets and shots are closer, making it harder to shoot them or dodge them. The top screen is used for stage information, scores, breaks, combos etc. When you destroy any enemies, you get points which are added to your level score. Killing enemies in chains scores you bonuses in more points, you have a set number of lives in each stage. The fast invader ship on the top of the bottom screen, gains you a lot of points still. All this will sound oddly familiar to most of you. Some enemies have "pickups" or items which you can use as weapons, to make it easier for you. Such as, blue pickups allow you to use a laser beam, which destroys anything in it's path, it's too bad it doesn't last that long, red pickups allow you to shoot "bombs" which destroys groups or clusters of invaders, the green pickups allow you to shoot more regular bullets or about 5 bulletsat the same time. My favourite is the blue weapon, the beam looks very nice on screen, and it is fun to use. These pickups are usually obtained from the same colour/kind of invader. There are of course, stronger and different invader enemies in this. Some move particularly fast across the screen, and when they get down to the bottom, they blast horizontally, so you can't dodge. Some can shoot beams at timed intervals similar to blue pickup weapons. Some have shields, which take about 2 or so hits to destroy, which then you can kill them, and some are huge, meaning they take more hits to kill. There are also "trigger" invaders, such as bomb ones, when you shoot them, they destroy themselves and others in that cluster or group, since it's a bomb, and some are already charged, so when you shoot them, they instantly shoot back. Sometimes you encounter extra in-game secret levels, such as destroying a number of top ships (ones that give you more points and go faster), you can encounter roulettes, which you can destroy a invader and it will give you extra bonus points depending on the one you killed, and ones that tell you to do something, like destroy a number of enemies, or destroy a number of whole clusters in a set time limit. Which will usually encounter in a Jackpot mode, where you can gain a lot of points. Sometimes, enemies appear in very weird shapes and forms of groups, such as arrows. The fast, strong enemies that give you a lot of points don't always appear at the top, sometimes they appear even lower. And sometimes they "directions", so that they are thin, instead of wide, making it harder to hit them. At the end of the level, you will encounter a Boss Attack, in which a usually large invader appears on the top screen, with mini invaders to attack. In this mode, the Boss does not scroll down to you, instead hover on the top screen. Each boss is usually quite difficult. All in all, everything added makes up for very fun gameplay, classic. Graphics are pretty great, futuristic menus, classic pixelised invaders. There's also a lot of notices and text and heaps of things flying around and animating in the background, which looks awesome. There's a lot of colours in this game, heaps of bullets everywhere and things moving, which makes the game more tricky, but more appealing, and not just plain old boring. The 2D graphics are pretty good for this game, I have no complaints, a slight 3D Space Invaders would have been awesome though. Sound is futuristic as well, people talking, sound effects, funky music in the background, fits the whole Space Invaders theme. Now, on to the marks! Presentation - 9/10 - Presentation is good, menus are clear and not too colourful but futuristic, making everything easier to read, and controls are not bothersome to figure out, as their barely is any. Graphics - 8/10 - The 2D graphics are good, everything looks very nice for a DS game, would have been nice if they made the invaders and such 3D, which is possible Sound - 7/10 - Sound is good, fits Space Invader's style and time, funky, retro, futuristic sounds/music and nice sound effects Gameplay - 8/10 - Gameplay is classic, uses classic controls, very fun to play, easy to become good at, stage aren't so easy, but that makes it funner Lasting Appeal -9.5 - The game is fun to play over and over again, very good time filler for those "stay-in" days TOTAL - 41.5 - All in all, this is a great new remake of an old classic. This is a good time waster, and is recommended by Anandjones, only 39 and over folks. Yeah, this review is a bit shorter, because it's Space Invaders, not too complicated this one.

I've had this game for awhile now too but I just don't really play it because I was never a space invaders type.
actually, you have quite a bit of those. what do you use for formatting? looks like notepad spacing since they're all systematic.
Yeah, I hate using my Microsoft Word 2007, so slow, so I use Notepad. And I find I often have to format it. I don't like typing it straight into the post box.
I didn't like space invaders DS....but the classic was an awesome game, when my dad first got it for me when I was three or something...
My dad bought Office 2007, for he's work, because all his work mates save with .docx and they're too stupid to save it as word 97-2003 .doc file
That won't always help, it doesn't always format correctly when using the older file type in Word '07. My friend lost 5 points on a research paper because Word decided to change up where his paragraphs began and ended when it was saved as a .doc instead of a .docx, and he never checked it because we turn in most things online at my college.
