    It's-a-me Mario!

So it's time for another party!!....whats Mario doing here?
    ____________________________________________________________________________________________________
    Storyline:
One day Mario is staring into the night sky when he sees five dazzling objects shoot across the sky and fall to the earth. One of these mysterious objects fall near Mario........
The next day Mario tells the crew what he found. It was a Sky Crystal! Just then Kamek (the evil guy flying on a broom) appears and throws down letters with Bowsers picture on the back...does this mean trouble for the crew?

The letters read" Hey Chumps, I'm throwing a Big Bowser Bash to apologize for being such a big jerk. So I got a buffet of free grub laid out for all of you. Come 'n' Get it.

Bowsers party invitations also get into DK's hands......

Free eats can't be beat! So Mario and his crew go to the Bash.......NO!! Mario and his friends have been captured. "Bwahahahaha! You fell for one of my traps again! Now gimme that Sky Crystal"! With Bowser's Minimizer he shrinks Mario and his group of friends and steals the Sky Crystal.

Thrown far away by Kamek, the crew begins their search for the other Sky Crystals, and go and beat Bowser!

And that's the thing that I hate. The storyline overall, the beginning and end just don't hold with me. There just too regular if you know what I mean. Couldn't we have a Mario party with new characters that are in the other Mario games(not Mario party games) and mabye some kind of twist in the storyline that you can play in two diffrent perspective like you Mario and you get to play being evil as bowser?!?

There was one previous game that was a portable part for the Game Boy Advance called Mario Party Advance, which was a complete and utter failure. Yes it was good to have mario and the group on the go but it just didn't hold up to the other gamers at all. This time around it's much better with 3D graphics, Much better sound and a more "related" feel to the previous games for gamecube/wii.

You can choose from up to 8 characters, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Wario, Waluigi, Yoshi and Toad. There's no difference between each character except appearance.

There are seventy-three mini games in total. Some of these use the microphone like one called Big Blow out, which you have to blow into the microphone to "blow out" the candles that are lit in front of you. There are also games that use the stylus like Cucumberjack in which you slide the stylus across the touch screen to cut a cucumber. And other contain the A,B,Y,X and the D-pad to controls like in a minigame called Whomp-a-Thon in which you have to run around a small rectangular space with the other computers until theres only one left..there is whomps outside falling into the cramped square and will flatten anyone they fall on.

One of the funnest things to do is(if you have friends with DSs)to link up with a couple other people and have a party. It's a fun thing to do after you've beaten story mode. Since the AIs are usually easy(if you play on easy or normal mode) you can have a challenge if your friends are any good.

As I just mention there are diffrent modes for the computer. Each difficulty has a considerable jump in challenge. I have NEVER been able to win any mini game with the hardest difficulty. So you could set that as a goal "to beat every character on storymode in every difficulty."

Other than storymode there are several diffrent things to do.
They are Party Mode (1-4 Players): Compete against player or system-controlled players on a party board in a Battle Royale, Tag Battle or Duel Battle.

Minigame Mode (1-4 Players): Play six games that draw upon the pool of all minigames for challenges that don't take place on the game boards: Free Play, Step It Up, Battle Cup, Score Scuffle, Boss Bash and Rocket Rascals.

Puzzle Mode (1-2 Players): Play six puzzle-action games, which include five classics from previous Mario Party games. This mode also includes the new touch-controlled Triangle Twisters, which has two play modes. In Frenzy Mode, players clear the field by twisting triangles so they connect with those of the same color. In Focus Mode, they twist them to build complex shapes, like turtles and pinwheels.

Multiplayer (2-4 Players): Using one game card, players can wirelessly share Party Mode and Minigame Mode (2-4 players), plus Puzzle Mode (2 players) and the download-only Extras Mode with nearby friends who have a Nintendo DS.
Extras Mode: Includes games that are designed for two-player gaming: cooperative Pen Pals and competitive Desert Duel.

Gallery Mode: Check out 150 prizes, which includes figures, music and cut-scenes.

There are five areas to play on each unlocked after you complete the previous one. Each level has a boss in story mode and after each boss a non-playable character gives you one of the Sky Crystals. There are also six diffrent spaces you can land on which are blue space (+3 coins), red space(-3 coins) ? space(random events) Friend space(you an a friend get 5 coins), Duel space (battle a rival for coins/stars) and The dreaded Bowser space that gives you a bad event like -1 star. The game has a cycle just like the older games. You start the game by rolling the dice to see who goes first. Then it's player, roll, player, roll, player, roll, player, roll, end turn, minigame and repeat. The game goes on for ten turns which lasts about 25-30 minutes, although in any other party mode you can set it up to 50 turns which takes about 1hour 50 minutes to 2hours to complete.

After each World and Each boss, for the things you did (like minigame wins), you get a board piece which resembles the theme from the board. There are alot of them to collect and you able to view them in the gallery.

The graphics in the game are good enough. It might be a little bit of a stretch to say there better than the gamecube graphics but they still are very good. The 3D especially looks nice compared to the 2D of Mario Party Advance. The cutscenes are very good, although there not the usual kind.

The music for the game is good too. It has the Mario feel with the right theme for each world. The little bit of voice acting there is sound pretty good also.

The one great fault of this game is the ab sense of Wi-Fi connection. This game could have been huge if it had it. Yes it's fun playing with your friends, but wouldn't it be funner owning all across the globe? Although this game has spectacular multiplayer features this game has lost a lot just because of one thing. It could've been the first Mario Party online...but no they had to make it Wi-Fi illiterate.

Presentation- 8- Not a great storyline but everything is easy to understand and everything has a theme.

Graphics - 9- Good Mario style graphics with nice 3D makes it lookin good on the DS.

Sound- 8.5- Basic Mario style with a good feel and the little bit of voice acting/sound effects make it sound pretty good.

Gameplay- 7- Not that great. Just like the other mario games, it's either good, okay or just plain bad.

Lasting Appeal- 6.5 Good if you have friends, but other wise if you Hare no goals this game will be beaten and finished with in about 2 and a half hours,

Overall- 39- A overall decent game, you won't get excited over another Mario party, but it's good for a party on the move.

Yes This is a short review but I'm doing another tomorrow. I haven't been here long but this seems like alot for one month?

Very good review! I played this, was fun at first, got repetitive easily. The in-game minigames inside the levels were okay.

Good work, CJ. I played a Mario Party game on the Gamecube, loved it. However I only played it for 2-3 hours, so I can't say if it was repetitive at all.

But I'll try this one out. Thanks. :)

    Very nice review. :]

I've played this game, and it's okay. In my opinion, they should've made it different than all the previous Mario Party games...spice it up a bit. But it's not a bad game, and can be really fun when playing with friends! [though somewhat tedious.]

Wow, after Mario Party Advance, I thought this would be utter garbage. But it doesn't sound half bad.

I don't think we need more though, 10 is enough.
