Well I havn't really been following the console wars but having played both I (and pretty much everyone) have realized that the PSP's graphics are much better than the NDS'.

But I can't really figure out why.
They both were released within close enough time of each other.

My possible theory is that the NDS had to sacrifice graphic quality due to having two screens.

Another thing I noticed is that NDS games are much smaller than PSP iso's.
What are the reasons behind this?

This is all just to broaden my knowledge and maybe learn some fun facts.

I think to lower the prices on cartridges.

Why is the NDS outselling the PSP when its not as good?

To keep the price of the DS down.

Also the games are smaller because the games are cartridge based and don't have the most amazing graphics too.

Probably becuase of the games on it, the style of the ds and the feel of the ds.

PSP contains much more powerful hardware than the DS. It's as simple as that.

True the PSP does contain much more powerful hardware than the DS. I wish my psp isn't broken. Price does make quite a difference in sales though.

Plus the fact that it contains more body weight, less battery life, and a COMPLETELY different library.

It's the portable sega systems all over again, but at least the PSP is competent and has a battery pak instead of six batteries XD.

Yeah I kinda determined that much. But whats the reason behind the graphical differences? Like why would Nintendo utilize such shitty graphics when something with as much 3D as the PSP was possible?

3d graphics are good but some games aren't meant for 3d like contra or new super mario bros. Well you can improve the graphics for super mario bros but it's a side scroller and not really 3d if you know what i mean.

To also have the cost of development down too.

Hardware power has never been what decides the quality of a system. In fact, I think I read somewhere that the most powerful console has NEVER come in first sales-wise. Don't remember for sure though.

Wii vs PS3, 360, wii wins
PS2 vs GC, XBOX, PS2 wins by a LANDSLIDE
    PlayStation vs N64, DREAMCAST...PS wins
SNES vs Neo Geo, 3DO, over nine THOUSAAAND CD add-ons, Jaguar, SNES wins
Gameboy vs Lynx, Gamegear, GB wins
NES vs Master System (SMS had better color palette grafix), NES wins.

I could do this all day :p
Atari 2600 vs ALL other numbered atari consoles (5200, 7800)...2600 wins

    PSP has a better hardware..........
this could also be said for the ps2 and gamecube......as they were released nearly the same year..........
Nintendo strives to make games for us which are more "cartoonish" rather than more complex in the graphic sense........
    I love my gamecube though............
