Please can someone help ive downloaded nds files to my pc and only some of the nds files are readable - others are not. when my son asks for a game off the pc to go on his ds i cant read which file is which?
an example of this is - sxs-ignd.nds unless i load all games on ds chips they are unreadable until then. Is there a way i can store them on my pc in a readable way so my son can choose the games he wants.
    Any advice appreciated

    Thanks

You can *rename the file (do not erase the extension .nds though)
It is normal if it says that it is read-only, just click on yes...

You can also be more organized by downloading covers off the internet so your son can kinda know what the game is about.
    *Make folder for individual games...
You can either extract the rar file or rename the rar file so that you know what game you have extracted to your pc.

*Also, try to make a separate folder for the games you will be putting on the card:
maybe call it "Games for DS" which you can delete after transferring the files you wish to put on the card...
    Hope this helps...

thanks - the problem i have is i have hundreds of games stored in this format ( sxs-ignd.nds ) and dont know what games they are, they show the full game title on the ds when looking at the game menu. Is there anything like a program i could use to copy n paste them all into so i can read the full titles on my pc. To go through them all one by one and rename them could take me ages.

    Thanks

    Google.

Take this for an example. I have a rom, and it's called : xpa-peos.nds
Type it into Google and I immediately get the title : Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Explorers of Sky.

    Copy, paste.
If you want a program, tough luck. Should have thought of it when you downloaded it.

If you downloaded them all one by one you should of checked and renamed as you go like I do.

Downloading in mass and getting stuff like that is hard to fix...all I can suggest is editing as you go :(

This is why I only download from the share section. Even if I forget to edit a ROM's filename, I can still tell what it is because all the ROMs are spelled out completely when I get them.

    oh i see...
the best solution that i can think of would be downloading a ds emulator, load games, and name...which can take a while :/
don't really know of any program...
don't think there is something of the sort either...

You could get the "Evolution Tools" pack. You install it on your computer, and then, when you hover the cursor over a .nds file, it'll show the name of the game. Also, it'll use the game's icon (that the DS shows before you load the game) as the icon on your PC. It has a few other functions too (like an auto trimmer), but I chose not to install them.

It does. I have it installed on my computer. It's a very handy tool from the CycloDS team, it also has an auto-trim feature which you can setup to automatically trim any DS roms anywhere (you tell it) on your computer. It is disabled by default, but you can turn it on for certain folders or globally (every folder). It also makes NDS files have the Icon of their game while on your computer.

Gives a lot of info on mouse over. Regardless of file name (but it does have to end in .NDS) And the file Icon is, in this case, the Teacher-Monster-Thing from Saga 2
