NDS cartridge reader?

    Hello there,

A while back, I saw a person using a device to read (and write) saves (and possibly dump games, too) from original NDS cartridges. It was connected to his laptop via USB. I tried googling a bit, but failed to find such device. Would you happen to know the name of this, and/or where do they sell it?

    Thanks in advance!

P.S.: It's probably my first post here. *steps back into the shadows*

The NDS itself can do all that, and probably better. As long as you can get a wireless connection to a computer.

It can be used to backup and restore save game files as well.

There is also a version that works with the Slot 2 device instead of WiFi, but it cannot be used to dump games larger than 32MB.
www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds has links to the non-wifi version under "Essential Utilities".

Thanks for the fast replies! I'm happy that there's a decent way how to do this without having to wait for somethign to ship.
The method seems rather simple. I should be able to handle that.

Shame that I can't get my laptop's WiFi adapter to serve as an access point and my designated access point WiFi dongle is physically in another city now. I'll try when I can and post/edit with result.

Hello, I have the device, it's called NDS adaptor by EMS but the program it came with is only to transfer the sav file. I would like to know if there is an additional software to download the nds file. I read the wi-fi option but I don't think I can handle with it. Thanks.

    Thanks!
I actually visited the site earlier today, but found no info about shipping rates, so I sent them and e-mail, but got no answer yet.

It's exactly the device I remember. Everything should be easier now, and I will be able to back up friends' saves.

Looks kinda... unofficial. But so are all the flashcarts.

Might buy it, might not. Much easier to do it via EZ Flash.

I purchased one 1-2 weeks ago and it shipped today. The reader (EMS NDS Adaptor Plus) works just fine - both reading and writing save files.
The software has no cartridge ripping option and I doubt the hardware could actually do that. But I never planned to do that from the start, so it's not really a problem for me.

Thanks guys once again for your help. Now I can back up (and modify) all I want :)

It was a better idea to use EZFlash... it actually BACKS UP the game.
AND it also PLAYS GBA games.
And it has a RAM expansion.
    And a rumble pack.

I actually own the version that uses the ezy 3 in one expansion pack.

There is an old version that uses the old gba slot 2 cards, anyway I noticed it could do it...

But I've yet to try games of 32MB...I think.

What size is pokemon pearl-I managed to dump that myself :)

    128 MB I think.

Tirith is talking about the non EZ Flash one.

I was wrong about that by the way. The EZFlash 3 in 1 dumping tool can dump ROMs over 32MB. It just does it in 32MB chunks.

    Copy to 3 in 1,
    Dump to Slot 1 device
    Erase 3 in 1,
Resume Copy to 3 in 1
Dump more to Slot 1 device.

    Etc, etc.

I copied the Star Wars Republic Heroes game, which was 128MB. It took four passes, but it worked. Only took about 24 minutes total.

Wait no, never mind. This was when he thought it can't back up stuff more than 32 MB, which it can.
