The topic is N64 versus GameCube. Further attempts to derail this topic will be punished most severely.
Correct, Majoras Mask... Gamecube did have some great games, but the best N64 titles stood out a hell of a lot more due to innovation.
Majora's Mask sucked more nuts than a squirrel puts away for winter. The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time is loads better. The N64 is my favorite system out of these 2. I grew up with it and some of the best games ever were on it. Banjo-Kazooie Banjo-Tooie Donkey Kong 64 LoZ OOT Star Fox 64 Super Smash Bros. Super Mario 64 Paper Mario Kirby 64 and more.
Honestly, it's not that bad... It's just a little confusing, with the 3day thing... And yes, N64 definitely :
game cube. i think that we are a little biased toward the 64 because it has sentimental value. From a more objective stand point the gc is just better- you cant throw away ssbm and twilight princess- animal crossing anyone? GC anyday, besides isnt there some gc version of OOT?
I'm not being biased... I know it sounds like it, but I just enjoy more games that are on the N64 rather than GC.
Same here. I like the Analog stick for the GC better, but the N64 controller is WAY better for gaming and design.
I <3 the N64 Majora's Mask was and is awesome. The three day thing was hard to get your head around, but damn; that game cronched toast. The graphics were like a super-grim-orgasmic anime, and the stories of all the characters were scratched into my mind so deep, I still remember story-scenes (like the part on the ranch where the girl knows the the world is about to be destroyed, she asks her little sister to sleep in her bed that night. Things like that.), they're scratched into my mind. The puzzles were difficult and stressful, I always felt under pressure as the clock ticked down to the end of Termina. Orcarina was a great game, but it didn't have as much character. I prefer the N64 and its games overall, but the GC had some amazing games (I loved Wind Waker, Mario Sunshine isn't as bad as people say IMO; I enjoyed it despite the camera, crappy voice acting and general "offness". MAKING UP WORDS FTW). Mario Sunshine feels more like an evolution of the 3D Mario series than Galaxy to me; the feeling of scale and danger chasing that dark paintbrush Mario (no spoilers ) around the cranes at the dock level was exciting, the levels felt more open than the restrictive ones of Galaxy (Galaxy didn't have any levels as open as those in Sunshine IMO). Galaxy felt more like a 2D game in some ways (tightly planned levels with paths straightforward and limited), whereas Sunshine felt like it didn't hold my hand. The harder platforming in Sunshine actually felt hazardous and thrilling to me, Galaxy was fun like a bouncy castle.
I have to agree with Markswan. MM is better because it had.. Much deeper plot A huge amount of sidequests (and they were all great) Increased difficulty Zora, goron and deku all playable All those people who complain about the 3 days, in all likelihood didn't even give the game a chance. All because it required some actual effort in the beginning (getting past that first situation in clock town). Once your Link again the game really opens up with an incredible amount variance.
