It's partitioned to FAT32 and it's 32 gb, which I suspect is the problem. When I launch the Wii while it's plugged it, it will only display a black screen. If I start the Wii without it, and then plug it in, it freezes when I try to launch the Homebrew Channel. Any help would be appreciated. Is this what happens when it's not compatible?
try putting it into the other usb plug because 1 of them doesn't support usb drives. the wii supports fat32 and up to 500gb from what i remember (i used a 500gb hdd formatted to ntfs)
I didn't know the Wii supported FAT32. I've always formatted my drives to WBFS. Last time I had a partitioned drive though, there were plenty of issues.
You need to have it formatted in WBFS. You also need that to be the only partition on the drive so unfortunately, you'll need to designate that as a Wii-only drive, unless you order the partitions where the WBFS one is first. I have no idea what you're actually using it for so more information would be great. If you're going to use it to play backups through homebrew software, then you'll definitely need WBFS as well as specific cIOSes installed. Other than that, I have no idea what you're going to do with it. For anything other than playing backups, use an SD card.
newer homebrew can play wii backups on ntfs formatted drives although you need to convert the wii iso's into wbfs format so it will work
I'm going to remod it since it's a bit wonky. I was just being lazy and didn't want to back up my sd card.
