Back on the 12th my microSD broke.

I was playin' Populous II on SnemulDS on Stylus mode on a PNY 2GB card on an R4. It froze. I restarted. I got a hang at the "Loading..." screen. I put it in my Computer. It didn't recognize it. I put it in my camera. It didn't recognize it.

    What do I do?

Usually if it hangs on the "Loading..." screen, I just take it out, blow on the contacts, and blow into the microSD slot. If in the strange case your card is rendered useless, then you might have to buy a new one. Just hope you saved a backup copy.

There are a few threads on this problem. If you really can't read the card then most probably it's gone. You could try sending it back to the shop and they might change a new one for you if you bought it not long ago.

Yeeup. That's what most people say. I just need to confirm a few more things:

    A) I have a crappy camera, need to try a different one.
    B) People say Linux Live CDs can fix them

Though, I think it just randomly broke, and I need to call the manufacturer.

A linux liveCD will not be able to do anything if the card is not recognised by the machine.

Another thing you can try is getting some 'rubbing alcohol' (95% ethanol or higher) and rubbing it on the contacts. Do NOT use methlated spirits, that contains a colourant that will leave residue on the contacts. Also, DO NOT DRINK THE ALCOHOL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, IT IS HIGHLY POISONOUS. its good for cleaning stuff that you can't use water on.

Dude. I know you can't drink rubbing alcohol.

It's just a precaution. If someone did actually do something like that, he might be held responsible or something. So just to play it safe.

Well both of mine broke so i sent them back to Kingston, they didn't charge me and it took about a week to get it back. So i would try going to PNY's website and see how hard the rma process is after you try the rubbing alcohol trick.

RMA is usually the best choice if it is an option.

Thanks for all the help, but I fixed it on my own.

After using the rubbing alcohol, I tried using a friend's camera. It worked.

So, I guess brand of camera matters.

Oh, and I understood that was a precaution, I just thought it sounded funny.
