My right DS Lite speaker busted, yet with headphones it still works fine?

Earlier this year I took in my DS Lite to get it repaired due to a warping top screen. When I got it back the screen worked fine. Yet all of a sudden the right DS speaker is busted, making the left one working. Yet, when I plug in headphones, I can hear out of the right headphone just fine.

What could be the possible cause of this? And is there a way to fix it?

speaker is blown. It wont affect the operation of headphones as that is taken off of the audio line before the speakers.

it could be a faulty headphone plug

And what could that be related? I mean, how can headphones destroy speakers?

    NO, you misread my message.

    I mean this:

If your DS speakers aren't working and that the headphones still do their job means that it is the speaker itself and not the soundcart.
So I agree with Loonylion also.
