My R4 won't play Mega Man Star Force 2 / R4 firmware help

As the title says, my R4 couldn't play MMSF2, so I tried downloading the latest firmware (1.18). However, on the R4 site, it says:

How to update R4?
After downloading and decompressing the new updated files, there will be one shell folder and two files _DS_MENU.DAT、 _DS_MSHL.NDS.Copy these files to the root directory of TF card to replace the former files

The problem is, I'm not getting either the folder or those files. Do I have to put the kernel in a specific folder or something? Any help at all would be appreciated.

On an unrelated note: How active are these forums? I just want to know how often I should check back.

 

you extracted the files yet?

You will need to extract the archive, so you get the right firmware files. Then you put all of those files straight onto your MicroSD root.

 

Extract the files? Are you guys saying that it's supposed to be a zipped folder? This is what I get whenever I download it.

Never mind. I had to download the WinRar program and extract the files. The game works now. Thanks.
How long does the WinRar trial stay on the computer? Is it 40 straight days or 40 days worth of uses? I know it's probably the former, but it'd be awesome if it was the latter. ;D

 

The evaluation version does keep having that upgrade message, but you can still keep using it after it's ended, just exit that window when it pops up.
