    hey guys,

today i got shadow of the colossus for the PS2. i inserted the disc and the console wouldn't read it first. i retried and got it to work. what's weird now is that the game takes literally forever to load. is that normal for SOTC or is it my PS2's fault? i cleaned the laser which seemed to slightly enhance everything...

It's probably the PS2 that is at fault. I know there are tutorials online about how to adjust the distance of the disc laser, but they are for the old PS2 phat models. I don't know about the Slims.

    Blue or Black disc?

The PS2 had/has a tendency to stop reading certain discs correctly after a while. Usually it was PS2 games that it would stop reading, and then only read PS1 games. That's when you had to adjust the laser height setting. But the Slim model didn't have the adjustment screw that the old system did. It's laser was fixed in location.

Sounds like a problem I had.

My official, mint copy of gran turismo 4 was having load issues...

I copied it, and the burnt copy actually loaded far faster.

No idea why, but if it's modded, try my suggestion.

okay thx guys.... i cleaned the laser again and now it works.... not fine, but it works.... it's really weird that this is the only game that has this issues, every other game works just fine... i'm gonna buy a ps2 cleaning kit and then we'll see =)

The PS2 had a couple different disc types. Does the one that doesn't work well have a different back color?

what do you mean by back color? the color of the disc is silver, if you meant that :)

There are different PS2 discs, Blue, Silver. PSOne games being black.

This won't work for the slim though, since the slim has a fixed laser mount.
