So. My L button on my DSLite finally crapped out, even though I've hardly pressed it for these 9 months I've had it. It just stopped working. On my old DS, you just had to press hard or blew into the button. Neither is working on the Lite's L. Anyone know of someway to fix this? Besides getting it replaced... Thanks in advance
You could try opening your DS and seeing if the problem is just the button mechanism underneath - but that will void your warranty. If you do open it and it is something easy to fix you can order the parts from websites online and install them yourself with a little electronics experience. What I'd personally do is contact Nintendo (assuming you purchased your DS legally) and tell them what the problem is. When my Wii's graphics started screwing up I did that and they gave me a new Wii. I've had a friend who had a problem with his DS Lite top screen and they fixed that for free. All you need is proof of purchase. Also, I'm not sure if there is a warranty period but my friend and I both had the problems within a year of purchase. Even so, can't help to call the big N in your area.
Interesting... so this not unusual? My DS (phat) has the same problem... blowing usually works. I opened it up with a tri-screwdriver (very educational ) and then closed it back up... it worked for a couple weeks and now it funking up again.
Yeah, my old DS was phat and it had the same problem. L buttons dying is a common thing, I suppose. ???
Hmmm... same problem here, my DSL's L button is stuck sometimes. You gotta press hard to release/spring it back up. So irritating when playing the DK Climber game.
I have the same problem on my ds Lite AND my DS Phat.The DS Phat works sometimes but the Lite doesn't work...I tried to blow in it and press really hard for 10 minutes and still doesn't work...
Urk... I'm trying to remember a method I read about... Hmm... Not exactly 100% accurate, but: 1. Clean your DS (basically, sanitize the area around the L button because some "hands on" is needed) 2. put your mouth directly near/on the L button? 3. blow into the little space separating the DS and the L button. This is suppose to push the button back up... But I don't know if it works though :/ Feel free to try
This has happened to me twice, the first time was because I accidentally dropped it, so I purchased a new one and about a week later the old DSL was working fine. The second time was a few weeks ago on my newer DSL, it didn't completely stop working but it required quite a bit of force to function properly, and a couple of days later it was working perfectly again. In short, if it was recent, I'd suggest constantly pressing (hard) on it and seeing if that fixes it at all.
Its possibly just clogged with gunk, if it really wont work then carefully dip the corner and the L button into meths, Ive done this several times with water damaged cell phones, you just sit the whole phone in meths for about half an hour and it takes the corrosion off and evapourates. This may work with your L button, but its up to you.
I had the same problem a couple of months ago. I called Nintendo and they sent me a replacement. All I had to do was give a credit card number and if they got my broke one in the alloted time they would not charge me. The package they sent it in was the same package you would send the broke one back. Didn't even have to spend a day without my DS lite. Only problem is with any online games get reset. Because of the pairing of the cart and DS. Kind of sucked because I was playing alot of Mario Cart online at the time.
i really feel sorry for you, because the L button is rarely used in most DS games. Good luck with fixing it, I just hope the same thing doesnt happen to me
