My Great PSP Idea

Discussion in 'Computers & Modding' started by fallen_angel4155, Feb 17, 2010.

  1. I have this laptop (HP dv9000 series) . The gpu just fried cause the laptop kept over heating really bad. I wanna know if i can use the lcd from this laptop and find away to use it as an lcd for my psp. what i wanna do is build the lcd and psp into the headboards for my daughters beds, and hardwire a ps2 (which i know how to do that at least) controller, this way my two girls can watch any movie they want and play any game they want with out fighting over the tv or game systems. i think its a pretty good idea, and i will prolly have to find away to connect the laptop lcd screen to an external power supply, cause i am sure that the psp wont handle the requirements powerwise of the new lcd but it should be able to handle the bigger screen since it is able to be played through the computer with certain software mods and through the tv with other connections. but the goal for me is to rebuild the whole system bigger and better into the headboards of my childrens beds, well footboards anyway. this is my idea and i hope it doesnt get stolen and my name is Crystal Stophlet and the date is 2-17-10. please e-mail me back at [email protected] if you understood anything that i wanna do and could possible help.

I kinda doubt this could be done, but prehaps with the right parts you can work something out.

The lcd's aren't expensive for psp's, it's getting a professional to do it that is.

Many psp games have ports/games ported from the ps2, infact it'll be easier to use the ps2 instead, if you have avi files just find the program "convertXdvd" and make them into playable dvd disc, which any dvd player would run.

As for building into the headboards of the beds, any lcd tv screen could be used with alot of work, prehaps there is something on youtube...throw in a few random strings of words with + in between and you'd be amazed at what you can find.

If they can make a portable n64 that plays the carts maybe your idea has been done, so keep youtube in cosideration :)

Just buy a portable DVD player or a cheap netbook. I've seen netbooks secondhand for around 100$

  4. but if i do it this way it wont cost an arm and a leg cause i dont know about you i dont have 100 bucks but then i want to have the gamming system of the psp. getting something else is like saying well why dont i just by a wii top or some other gamming system, i think if i cant figure out how to use my spare laptop lcd screens i will get small cheap moniters that a family member has. sorry you guys don't like my idea but isnt that the point of modding to be creative and think outside the box and to make something do more then whats its supposed to? plus i was trying to use stuff that i already have and that my girls already know how to use, plus my oldest daughters favorite thing is the psp, i am just trying to find away to make it better, and more afficient, (and yes i already know i dont spell very well). i already know alternative ways to do what i want to do, but i want to find away to do it the way i stated cause the way i stated is what i currently have the parts for, well mostly and will be the most cost efficient for myself. i am pretty much going to be taking apart the psp and completely redesigning it so i can build it into the head/footboards of the girls beds also attaching a ps2 controler to it as well which i already know how to do that, i am also in the prosses of making a special HDD for the psp as well and a special card reader. when i get done, my girls are going to have one hell of a bed lol and i am trying to keep all this a secret so my oldest wont find out, so i can suprize her with it. when i get it all done, i'll post pictures of everything and how i did it, and prolly will write a tutorial. i think this would be awsome for any smart gamer child boy or GIRL, just like mine
