Question is...what do you like? Sure you could be a simple "play request" dj...but you can specialise. Electronica, pure techno (dof doof XD) or even heavy metal...the choice is yours.... And being a dj isn't about making music...though you can, being a dj is normally the guy who makes the music happen in clubs and parties-I learnt how to use the equipment (and learnt changing vinyl records is easier than cd's...even with the right equipment) so i got an idea...
Most DJs play for clubs and parties so you usually will stick with Hip-Hop/Rap because that's what people like to dance to. Sometimes even techno works but it's rarely play unless it's something like 'Cascada - Everytime We Touch'. Here is a tip: once in awhile play a slow song but it's all about timing when your a DJ. forget that i think you should go in for some DnB or some filthy dubstep im making a kind of archive if thats what your into and if you even want i can send you a liquid mix i made a couple months ago (its not very good but its a start).

I have FL Studio, I mainly listen to all versions of Trance (except Goa blaahhhh), Hardstyle and Techno. My favourite artists are Headhunterz, Noisecontrollers, DJ Sammy, Armin van Buuren and tons more. Check out the Newgrounds Audio Portal. That should be your 1st step in becoming a DJ.
