Time to go Science fictionist geek now ;D So, you read about them on Comics (Marvel, DC, Image etcetera), you see them in some Cartoons & there are even some fields of Science that discuss them (I'm not sure which field/s exactly though Metaphysics? Quantum Physics?), but what are Multiverses & Omniverses? Simply put, there is this belief that "our" universe, "our" plain of existence isn't singular, that is, there are infinite realities & each one unique. There is no way to prove or disprove this at present, because to go to another "reality", you must first become non-existent in "this" reality. And if you're non-existent here, then how can you be certain you exist "somewhere" else? To sum things up, because of Permutation, Probability, Chance & Randomness, anything can be possible. Actually our day to day grind can have infinite turn outs as well. Say it's Monday & you're going to work, the typical scenario. A lot of possibilities can be created: 1. Your day begins typically & ends as how you would expect it. 2. Today maybe your date with Death 3. Today you might get Promoted 4. Today you might get involved in a crime, etcetera Because we "choose" which actions (& beliefs) we do, each & every hour we make, in turn we make various scenarios, that may turn out good or bad. But because we can only live out one scenario, we sometimes think of "what could things turn out if I did this instead?". These "other" instances what can comprise other alternate scenarios, so if in "this reality", I posted this topic & you're reading it, in another, it maybe the other way around. Or, in that "alternate reality", I might have posted another topic in another board or even in another Forum, on the exact moment you reach the end of this post
Well, there was this guy who told me that our solar system is a little dot on a "arm", and on this arm would be millions of other dots or universes, and then there would be quite a few "arms" attached to a circle, and then there would be millions of those, and all of those would be attached to something else. The objects he used as examples are plain bull, however I get what he was meaning, so yeah, it's cool.
some people believe that we are currently living in a dream, and we're actually inside a capsule, waiting to wake up. one of my friend said that to me, and i shoved him inside a trash can and told him to wait until i wake him up
I believe there is many different universes but I also believe that they will colide one day as they are ever expanding which could cause various events to happen and possible time-rifts... That's just my speculation on this..
I remember when I used to think that the Earth was just a marble under someone's bed, and we were just germs living on it.... Odd isn't it?
The first time I ever read of a multiverse collision was with the grand Cross over series between Marvel & DC, the so called "Marvel versus DC" Saga. It was epic Heroes & villains from both comic book universes collided in a battle to see which universe of Heroes was the greater. Sad to say though, Superman died there because he was ganged up by The Hulk, The Thing & Juggernaut with a large lump of Kryptonite being rammed down his throat. Suffice it to say, Marvel won in that saga, 3:1 Then another multiverse battle was fought, between Marvel & Image, this wasn't as cool though as only Spawn, the WildCats & Wet Works being the recognizable image characters in that battle.
There was also TMNT episodes on a multiverse. But they were just stupid cartoons, I think universes will colide with devastating effects unlike the things shown on tv.
There isn't enough data to believe anything in the way of a multiverse. It's not even a theory; more of a hypothesis or a concept. It's certainly interesting to entertain new ideas, but making a commitment and saying "I BELIEVE THIS" is kind of pointless.
This isn't the Matrix, or Zanarkand and no one is playing Ballad of the Wind Fish. I guess there's just no way to wake up then. That reminds me of the Men in Black movies.
if you watch enough star trek generations and voyager, you'll know that if all the universe [string theory] was to collide, then everything would cease to exists. that is why two of the same person cannot occupy the same space at the same time. in math, if you have a negative and a positive, if you add them together you get a zero, which is the end result of the universe. if you watch enough star trek generations [frame of mind] and voyager [thaw], you'll know that "When your only reality is an illusion, then illusion is reality" clown. the problem with this is that we don't know if the life we're in is the reality or the illusion since we no one comes back from the other side. in all of this, we can't really tell if there really does exists a hyper dimension or a subspace and beyond subspace and so and so as we don't have the tools to experiment. all we have are theories that justify the ideas based on mathematics, which in some practical but may not be when applied. even if we do have the tools, who would want to venture into such a risk and who would want to be the one responsible for the death of man or the fall of a species and such and such. the famous quote is truly for real, space is the final frontier. i would one day like to know what is beyond a black hole, and i'm not referring to a butthole here nor am i referring to a gaped vagina either. ;D
That's kinda assuming there's just one other universe and it's the complete opposite in everyway. I think that has to do with antimatter, but antimatter can be brought into existance in this universe, it just explodes quite quickly. And I'm not 100% on this, but I'm pretty sure what you're describing isn't string theory at all. Finally, you're final sentence which I've quoted makes no logical sense at all. In math, if you have a negative and a positive of equal value, if you add them together you get zero. You're also making a massive leap to say that zero is the end result of the universe, unless you're some kind of future seer.
I believe that alternate universes could exist but i don't believe they are create as a result of human decision or events that have a large impact on the world. Something like that would require some being to be there created and destroying universes in my opinion and since I'm atheist I don't support it. However, you always here about the large distances between atoms and how other universes could reside within that space, whihc I believe could be possible. Also, doe anyone remember the name of the experiment/theory with the cat and atomic particle that has a 50% chance of hiting the cat, creating two unvierses in which it does and doesn't.
