Is Firefox better than Internet Explorer?? If so then how is it better? And can I download it for free, and where can I download it?

In answer to your questions, Hell Yeah, almost every way, yes, and Download Here.

Firefox uses less system resources than internet explorer, has less security problems and has these awesome things called Extensions. You can add bits to it from the firefox site, for example I have one that shows all the downloads I have going or that finished up to an hour ago in a bar at the bottom of the window, which I find more tidy. You can even get skins for it, so if you want it blue, or black, or shiny and mac-looking, or even like mine made of wood, you can do that.

Oh, and it's open source, which is like the programming equivalent of buying organic, free-range fairtrade food.

There is no way to describe it, Firefox owns IE in every way. Download it here, it's free, and you can costumize it. This thread can help when it comes to add ons.

the other point everyone failed to mention is there there are a set of standards to follow when making websites to ensure that they look the same in all browsers. Firefox adheres to these standards, IE does not.

No, it's just that all those other inferior non-ie browsers fail to use the Microsoft(r) Standard(r)(c) Web Standards(c)(tm)(r)(c)(tm)

if the W3C didn't ratify them, they aren't standards. Since the W3C is led by the guy who invented the web, I think they know what they are talking about.
