Alrite i m pretty sure most of u people use firefox i have one little problem though(been using it for quite long)and i notice the memory usage is very high all the time firefox uses up to almost 200mb so in there anyway to avoid the high memory consumption i m currently using a software call minemem and following advice from certain forum and try tuning it by entering the about:config page to tweak certain things.any ideas ?? ^_^

Are you using the latest version? I thought the memory leak issue was fixed up a while ago.

Also, how many tabs are you opening? Because obviously more tabs = more memory :)

Well, are you loading image galleries, individual images, etc?

Those images are being loaded into memory. Like right now I opened my favorite "photography" site and opened a few galleries and pictures, and got up to 370MB of usage from firefox.

The content of the websites affect the usage of the program. After closing all the images and galleries, it's back down to 70MB.

sometimes i have up to 11 or 12 tabs open lol

The content is what is important. You have 11 tabs open with just text it doesn't matter. But if you have 11 tabs open, one with a gallery, and 10 with some high quality 3000 megapixel images, you are going to be using a lot of memory.

yea quite true lol i stream a lot of video as well so there is no permanent solution to this right ??

Nope. The data has to be stored somewhere. The only solution is to not view as many at the same time. Watch one movie, or look at one or two images, then close them and open the next.

If you download the Firefox Ultimate Optimizer, then you can reduce how much memory Firefox takes. :)

Mines normally at around 100,000k-200,000k. Now it's at 1000k. :)

i can't download the optimizer for some reason, says account suspended, i gotta make an account?

No, it looks like the account of the person who had the file on that particular host had his account suspended. So there is no free download.

Personally I don't feel that Optimizer would help 4DS with his problem. His problem isn't that Firefox is using all the resources, his problem is that all the Media that he is viewing is using up those resources. Lots of Videos and Images open at one time will do that, that information has to be stored somewhere.

Why are you viewing so many videos? You have to be careful with those adult entertainment sites, they can be very addictive... you have to practice moderation ;)

because of the romulation and ie7 issues. "yes 75% simply for that reason" i made the ie7 to firefox current move.
firefox has been loading faster, opening tabs faster, switching between them faster. all while i do the same day to day routine. so my indiviual perception is that fire uses less resources or at least handles better.

i am now running a weather thing, e-mail thing and a rss feed thing at the bottom of the firefox thing. in the "status bar?"
and my fire is purple, has its google widget thing that can open and show me more weather. has roboform installed like i had in IE7.

by the way.... youtube is almost as bad as adult sites. shouldn't go there, bad, bad like myspace. evil crap sites.
