Well, now that I've removed norton (which WAS causing my PC to BSOD) I'm getting another error. Whenever the hell it feels like it (usually within the first ten minutes after starting), my computer freezes. Like, completely freezes, task manager can't be started, you can't use keyboard shortcuts, the mouse is suck in its place. The only way to get out of it is a reboot. Upon the reboot, I go through the same system errors that occurred before; Having to rapidly tap ESC in hopes that I'll get the boot menu before the start screen freezes too. I ran a RAM test and there was 14 errors, and the program crashed. I'm currently running a system analysis (what the computer referred to as a "bootable hard drive" when I burned it.) It DOES start and work fine if you get a test to complete and start the CPU up after, in fact it runs great! I had it going for six days with no issues whatsoever! But after you shut it down from there...it starts ALL OVER AGAIN. Any help on what this might actually be is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I don't have a clue about your problem but what the hell is this!?^ You just made me waste 1 minute of my life
Hmm..before I even got to do this, another error started happening. After a successful boot (and a system restore,) the system searched windows update for a driver for an external HD (which i assume was uninstalled in the restore). About a minute in, the screen went black for a second and then the system restarted. It got stuck on the initial boot screen and I couldn't do anything (no alternate boots, system restore, etc. Does this change anything?
yes, try unplugging the external drive. drivers from windows update are a crapshoot, don't touch them because they don't work and generally fuck stuff up. This is true in all windows versions prior to 7. Drivers supplied by windows 7 update usually work.
Okay, I did it and that worked. Later, I had to get some files from the drive for cyberschool. I plugged it in and it worked for a while. Then out of nowhere I got a BLUE SCREEN. Something about a framebuffer overlapping and making the computer easy to hack so it shut itself down (?) now it won't start up at all again. God, whatever is happening keeps on mutating so much. What can I do to get through this "phase"? BTW, I might be getting another tower tomorrow if I can't fix this old guy. I am looking at http://www.staples.com/HP-Pavilion-Slimline-s5610f-Desktop-PC/product_905574?cm in particular. EDIT NVM any of this...PC is dead and I lost all files after dad told me to factory reset... we'll get the new computer
