What up, fellow zero budget and retro gamers! :D

In my quest for polygonal/vehicular enjoyment, I have encountered a problem while trying to play Monster Truck Madness 64. :(

All my gaming at home is done on emulators(unless I acquire enough funds to purchase a new PSP game), and for my N64 gaming, I use Project64 ver. 1.6.
My operating system is Windows XP with an ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200 series GPU(My rig is a hand-me-down HP Pavilion zv6000), so my graphics plugin settings on the emulator can have almost everything maxed out with very little hiccups at 640x480 resolution, were I keep both this and my PSone emulator. When I run the game, everything looks frickin' awesome! Everything except the segmented bars where the text should be in the menus! I assume that each segment represents a letter and each bar is a word, but since I never quite memorized the menus from when I last played the game almost 9 years ago, I can't even start a race!

I don't know what to do, and need assistance. ??? :(

Help me, RomUlation forum members... you're my only hope! ;D

Don't worry, it's only been 2 hours, eventually someone should help you.

I figured I'd at least get a response regarding my blatant Star Wars reference.

That's an emulator issue, but can be solved...

Did you choose to activate Project64's Game Directory detection function?

If not, start up Project64, then click on "File" to access the "Choose Directory" option, set your N64 ROM directory to it. As soon as you set the directory Project64 will check if it can run the games on your directory & tell you if your games are compatible on it or not. Along with this, it will also notify you if a game needs certain plug in features for Project64 to run a specific case game. As for Monster Truck Rally, it needs you to select the version 1.5.2 of jaboo's video plug in for it to properly show the game's HUD (the text that's supposed to be on those Bars you see)

Hope this helps you out, enjoy :D

I'm sure it'll help someone else; I myself deleted the game.

I'm a prissy biatch when it comes to realism in licensed vehicles, and I recall when I played the game on an actual N64, being able to tell the difference between the Ford F-150 based trucks and the Ford Super Duty based trucks; now all the Fords look like mutated Ford Rangers. That and Grave Digger looks really funky as opposed to it's normally awesome self.

I guess it's kinda how everyone remembers Goldeneye 007 and GTA3 being more awesome than they are in reality...
