Hello, yes I'm asking for help yet again, and this time, I did some research via google XD

But...I am rather confused by the info I have got...

You see, here is my problem, my mother got a plan with optus (adsl btw but this ain't about that) that gives us 20GB a month...

Needless to say, I've somehow excedded that in a single day...

And it happens all the time...she can't access the account via net to check as we use, all she get's is the email when it's too late...

Thus I'm forced to scrap my wireless router I bought (which took months to configure since I had no clue on what to do) and go mobile...

But...8GB a month for a mobile broadband at $100 is crap compared to the same price as 20GB!

    I thought I found a solution...

Prepaid dialup-dodo has a prepaid deal where you get unlimited (but you can get booted after 4 hours sessions if the server is full) for only $29 approx...

Problem is...can I get that via usb modem or MUST it be thru the phone line...

Now if your wondering how I use my limit so quickly and all the other stuff...

1.I use torrents (though I count these and I'd be lucky to use 3 quaters of the limit)

2.Yes a lot if from this very site XD

3.The plan counts uploads...something I didn't expect but I read that in the plan details

4.But the time it last after it "rest" is getting smaller...I have a therory that optus is counting the downloads I'm doing while it's down and adding them into the refreashed state!

So...considering that I can't go TPG, and all wired connections are not on my plan, here are my questions...

1.Is it possible to get unlimited plans, cheap via usb modem (dialup, mobile broad band, etc)

2.What are my options for a big user...

3.Can companies count downloads and add them back onto an un-throttled connection?

PS my mum's pc has viruses from my...previous use before I got my laptop, I guess that some downloading bot is there somewhere since she keeps persisting with norton which she installed over the dam virus, but she hardly toches it because of the fact that while the shared speed is 6kb when slowed, mine is vista and runs just a tad faster unlike her XP pc with rather crap proformance (don't ask-work emails are driving her insane she she get's so many of them...thus slowing her down on outlook express...)

dial up has to be through the phone line. Mobile broadband is slow, expensive, the performance varies wildly according to how many people are on the same base station (one base station typically covers a 30 mile radius), usage limits are insanely low and the fair usage policies pretty much preclude downloading at all.

    3. its possible but not simple, and probably isn't legal if they don't tell you they're doing it. I would suggest you run a virus and malware scan on both machines, and stop using utorrent for the time being.

I've been lucky to use bit torrent for 5 mins this month, wit the upload limit capped...

I use avg free, it hasn't detected anything on mine, but I know my mother's has plenty...it shuts down when installing programs...or using
    command prompt (wtf???)

Should I install another to check prehaps?

mine is up to date, when ever it's updated I run it, and that's when it tells me to update of course...

    Dang it...

Prehaps I should buy the usb thing for mum, and get the net swapped in my name prehaps, that way, she doesn't pay for the net unless she needs it (which ain't often, I can tell ya) while I pay the 100 a month and her first round...

yes, I'd run a decent antivirus on your mother's PC, and spybot as well. Maybe when she sees how many viruses the likes of AVG/Avira find that norton doesn't she might change her mind about using norton.

...she won't listen to me, I tried running avg free over the bug ridden thing, and she always trust other's advice over mine, since I was the one who got most of the viruses on that thing (she never listened to me about the fact that her contacts need to be transfered to her sim in order to use on another phone, and only listened when her friend said the exact same thing)...

Plus the avg I let hers wasn't funny installed, and was outdated, it cleaned out all the bugs that it could detect but was powerless about the ones it wasn't updated agaist...

It needs a full system restore, a friend of hers who actually knows about computers (heh, I bought my laptop off him, and he set up the net correctly in 2 minutes....only took him so long because he tried using mum's bugged thing) suggested that...

It's sad that when a mum's son is actually trying to do right, is ignored, and will never listen to you until someone else says the exact same thing...and still say your in the wrong...

If the net comes back up, I might as well high jack the macca's 5 blocks away, provided I don't download anything over 250MB...but could they do something if I'm downloading from here kinda worried about the esa tracking me down :(
