Mini Ninjas DS

I have updated the software on my M3 Real about a week ago, so it is current. In the game, I just got the girl on my team. After that, there is a room where a tengu mage teaches you a skill to use against the huge samurai in the room. I get a black screen when I go to continue my adventure after beating it. The door is a place where you can automatically save, and, to be safe, I did. Sadly, the room doesn't load after saving the game, or resuming after turning the DS off. Is there something I can do?
