what's going on with the metroid series?!

when i played metroid 1-3, i played it with the idea of killing monsters and the likes on planet zebes. i never cared for the person behind the mask. all i cared about was exploring the planet surface of zebes, destroy the evil mother brain and the giant metroid and save the world. so why is having a focus on the hero's character going to change anything? we never cared much for her other then the adventures she goes on, so why would people care about samus's character? why is nintendo creating a game about samus's personality when people simply don't care?

the metroid series is in peril btw. similarly the zelda series as well.

Because it's about damn time we explored the first lady of ass wooping. Also, shes got a interesting story, and it needs to be unfolded... Unless YOU prefer all the zelda games with no voice acting and no cutscenes, and only text.... I love zelda, but it's about time nintendo did stuff like this, and I'm glad that team ninja is giving the metroid games some real edge.

Little is known about Samus, well, at least what she thinks.

This is an opportunity to explore who SHE is...not what she does.

And no matter what.......the Zelda Series is awesome...I don't care what anyone says.

I agree littel is known of samus and this is indeed a great time to explore who samus aran truly is, as for zelda, it's a awesome series, but it wouldn't hurt them to make some cutscenes like what team ninja is doing and I'm glad that they added voice acting to this metriod game and not Text like almost all of there past games.

You guys said what i wanted to say :(

We need to know more about samus, ever since she was revealed to us as a girl and peoplewho were playing had brains realised "hang on-just WHO is she?"

Metroid fusion gave us more insight...this completes it.

And seriously ultra, it's not all about ass whooping, there is a fair bit of story with the metroid games..this is what WE the true fans want.

Nintendo in peril...you say that about everyone!

(people call you a fan boy-I say you just want some random fight picking on nintendo's direction with samus...dude make less topics and start making better post!)

when i play the resident evil games, i didn't really care about the life of leon, claire or the other characters in the game. all i cared about was how the hell is the character going to kick some zombie monster ass and save the god damn moment of situation.

would it be really interesting to have a resident evil entitled, resident evil: the life of chris redfield? where we examine the life of chris on how he became a star member and all that sort of stuff in his personal life? no, because no one cares about the characters, only the adventures they undergo.

Hell yes I do... it would suck otherwise.

I think going into the life of Samus now (and giving her a voice :x) is pointless and unneeded, I like there being an air of mystery about her.

To give more focus I think they should of just created parts where she is playable as zero suit or something, nothing more...
It maybe too soon to bash it solely on this though, those action segments look pretty sweet to me.

I do, and I always did. And it's not like a good story has ever made a game worse than it actually is.

Because you want to? You haven't presented a single argument (let alone evidence) to support this. Less talk and more proof.

You couldn't be anymore wrong than that, Ultra. The story of characters and the plot of the entire game actually give more depth to the game itself (given it is a good story to begin with!) A good story actually keeps player's attention and makes them play the game further just to find out what happens next.

Take Final Fantasy 7 for instance. The game's story held a lot of people's attention as they played that game, and not to mention those people have been intrigued by some of the main characters within the game, including Cloud Strife and Sephiroth. Even to this day, fans still admire this game, even though it's 12 years old now.

Let me ask you a simple question Ultra: if Cloud Strife and Sephiroth didn't have their own background stories, would either of these two characters become interesting to those who have played Final Fantasy 7? Why or why not?

yes the hair... and the movie... and the other games with their images posted everywhere... plus it was the first 3D final fantasy, and CG cinematicography on the PS1 basically ensured the viewers to keep watching

What a hilarious answer. The CG cinematography played the entire plot of Final Fantasy 7 out, which happens to tie into the background story of all the main characters, including Cloud Strife and Sephiroth.

Sorry, but your answer was terrible. And besides, that question was meant for Ultra, not you, Gavilatius.

But I will say that your answer is something I would expect from Ultra, if not, perhaps a little better than Ultra's.

Well, for thoes that wanted a silent samus aran with no CG cutscenes and only voiceless text's congrats! cause it seems that team ninja won't be pleasing you, but will be pleasing the rest of us.:)

I don't really care, as long as the game is good... ABUSE was awesome

of course but having voice acting and CG cutscenes is only icing on the cake. Also, Team Ninja kicks ass, and they make killer games.

    TL, DR

Then your missing out on valuble story...and most games these days unless it's a generic fps/arcade game.

I would assume that this IS flame bait but on another level.

    GO HYPR!

Answer that to us ultra ::)

Seriously dude, your debaits/topics kinda suck, I don't see you as a fanboy anymore...but an annoyance.

hmm Ive read what everyone has said and i think it would be great for Nintendo to finally go into

but one thing is voice overs and zelda games, i just thhink it wouldn't be right. i mean look at it this way what would they say when the hero (link) come since you're given the option to call him your own name. would they make it that they call him a nick name or some thing or would they have it that you can only have your name as Link

Edit: i think that new metroid game looks kinda cool
