Metal Gear Solid PSX Error

Okay, I started playing MGS1 and after the DARPA dude says that the chicks code is on the back of the game case, it just totally freezes. The whole screen goes black and you hear a loop of the last thing you heard. Does anyone know how to fix this or if I should just get a new Rom of it. Thanks alot.

im assuming youre using a psx emulator to play it.

try changing the graphics settings. sometimes displaying too much can be the problem. it wants to display everything 1:1 but can't because the emulator (or computer) can't display it (meaning the blackness) and the skip is due to it trying to display what can't be displayed and is hung on that.

lower the graphics to not display junk or extra textures and you might be able to fix it.

nothing is ever wrong with psx images, just the emulator, configs, plugins, and computers that run them.
