Merge partioned external hard drive

    Ok.
I recently bought a external hard drive for my Wii (modded).
I partioned the drive, making a FAT32 and WBFS part.

It didn't work, so I dug deeper.
It looks like the WBFS part is meant to be in front of the FAT32 part, which it isn't (I think so, I'm not 100% sure).

So, I wish to merge the hard drive back together.
Is there any way to do that without losing space? It needs to merge into FAT32 or NTFS (preferred).

This probably should go on a Wii hacking forum, but I'll ask you guys first.

Help me. I want this Wii up and running soon! (Like, tomorrow soon)

you wont lose space. Or do you mean without losing data? The easiest way is to delete the partitions and start over, but you'll lose everything on the partitions if you do that. The other way is with a program such as paragon partition manager, you delete one partition and expand the other to fill the unoccupied space. That way you'll lose the data on the deleted partitions, but the data on the expanded partition will be safe.

If you're going to try again, you can do this (with paragon partition manager). Delete the second (Wii) partition, move the fat32 partition to the end of the disk, then create a new partition in front of it. Be warned that if you have much data on the fat32 partition, this process will take a LONG time. The only quick way of doing it is either delete all the data before playing with the partitions, or simply delete both partitions and start over.

    I use EASEUS. Same idea.

Either way, I think he's stuck with deleting the WBFS partition since those don't come up as anything recognizable on the partition program. But if my guess is correct, he shouldn't have anything on that partition anyway since uLoader/USBloader etc. can't read it.

Worst comes to worst, he'll have to use WBFS manager to migrate all of his games back to the FAT32 partition and then start the process.

    Solved this.
Downloaded the Professional version of EASEUS and there was a 'Merge Partion' button.
    Who knew?

    Thanks for your help guys.

Was it able to read the WBFS partition?

It wouldn't matter, WBFS is the file system, which is a higher level than the partitions. The partitioning software couldn't care less what filesystem is on the partition.

I was just wondering because when I ran mine through EASEUS, it recognized the partition as unformatted space.

    No it didn't.
I formatted it to NTFS first, then merged the partions.

    I figured.
Well, if you had anything on the WBFS partition at the time, it's gone. The Home version of EASEUS doesn't have the merge option, but you could have just deleted that empty NTFS volume and extended the main partition. Essentially the same thing in your situation.

Also, if this were the case, then I'd be able to resize the partitions on my PS3 hard drive.

I wish I could...because then I'd be able to defrag it or at least run a disc check.
