    the game freezes when i go to iceland or w/e the 3rd place is called in the adventure mode o.o

    You'll specifically need to use a save-file past that point in order to continue. Search the threads in this board.

    says something about renaming the sav file but what should i rename it to

    You delete your old save file (back it up if you want to) and rename the new one to the exact same name as the ROM, but with .sav instead of .nds as its extension.

    The new save-file, in this case, one at this point in the game. Give it the same filename as the ROM.
