I want to translate the storyline, of MapleStory DS. But I don't know any of the narcs, which contain the text and also, would the narcs be editable on PokeTex?
You need to see these: 1. http://gbatemp.net/t224617-maplestory-patch-release-thread? 2. http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=40172.0 3. http://gbatemp.net/t223122-maplestory-ds-english-translation-project And here's the program made by DarthNemesis for that purpose you ask for; MapleTrans Program : http://www.mediafire.com/?vmynnnzellm You might need a good text editor such as EmEditor, you can get a free 30 days trial pro version through Google. Each time the trial expired, simply remove the program completely from your computer and reinstall another copy. I don't have the rom, so I can't test which one is the text file. But you'll need to use the text editor to test each file to see which ASCII coding it uses. The original game is in Korean, and there is a partial translation patch already, provided by Kiekoes. I suggest you download the partial pre-patched version from Kiekoes's topic above so that you can simply continue from there on and not start from zero. You need a DSLazy program too, find it through Google. My guess is, based on my personal experience trying to use DarthNemesis's method. You must first download DSLazy and MapleTrans, put it in one folder, unpack using DSLazy and then further the process by exporting the files via MapleTrans. From there you get the text files to translate using the text editor of your choice. You might want to look at my tuturial on Summon Night X that you can find in the Tutorial Section. I assume the method should be more or less the same for MapleStory since the program is made by the same person which is DarthNemesis. Also read the Read Me file provided by DarthNemesis before starting. Sorry, I can't help you any further as I have never attempted to look into that game.
I just downloaded the MapleTrans program. And I see this in the read me: So my guess is true. You do need to use DSLazy first to unpack the rom. And then Choose LOAD ALL to extract the text file. If using a pre-patched translated rom don't work, try doing it on a clean unpatched, untranslated rom. Edit 1: This means DarthNemesis's method for MapleStory is the same as doing it for Summon Night. I suggest you do the same method as I had listed in the Tutorial Section. You need to dump everything (rom, MapleTrans, DSLazy) in 1 common folder. Run the DSLazy first to unpack, then run MapleTrans to LOAD and export the text files. Basically follow the tutorial I did for Summon Night. It should be the same. Edit 2: I notice the MapleTrans program is the same as SummonTransX. So I really suggest you follow my tutorial for Summon Night as its the same method : http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=52514.0
