MAME Help

    WHen I run half my roms (half is good to say, not just an expression, it's not like they all do this, but a fair share do) it says:

    The selected game is missing one or more
    required ROM or CHD images. Please select a
    different game.

    Press any key to continue​

    I tried using offical mame and Easy Mame launcher, Easy Mame flashes a DOS window for one second and I caught that file pcm.u0217 was missing. So I tricked it and made a dummy file (right click, new, text document and named it pcm.u0217) and offical mame ran and Easy Mame said that the checksum didnt match but let me continue anyway, saying that there might be problems.



    What is up with this? Is pcm.u0217 needed (this is for game "Raiden Fighters 2:Operation Hell Dive"). Can I just make dummies and will it work? It still is quite annoying to have to modify all my ROMs before playing them!

    im guessing here, but it sounds like either a bios file or a dump of a region lockout chip.

    Thank you for fast reply!

    How can I find out the region? It's funny, like I said it works if I add the file. I dont know, maybe the file isnt needed and was taken out to save space? (PS I didnt get the game from this site)

    the fact that it works with a dummy file suggests to me that it is indeed some kind of protection.

    How is that so? You mean they deleted the file cuz it was protection?

    no, I mean it doesnt work without it being present, but it works when the file is present with no actual content.

    What's that have to do with Region lock? Why didnt the rom come with the file?
