    Hi

    My little grand daughter has an m3 ds simply, she has had it for a while now.

    She wanted me to put new games on and when I tried I just get a white screen.

    Is the card no good anymore or is there a way of fixing this please?

    Thank you xxx

    Download this : http://filetrip.net/file.php?id=23723 (Wood R4 v.1.23 firmware from Yellow Wood Goblin)
    And also
    Download this : http://filetrip.net/file.php?id=23728 (wood R4 v.1.23 bootloader from Coolkill3r)

    What you need to do;
    1. Download the files from the 2 links. Unpack it. (I hope you have a WINRAR or 7z to unpack the files, if you don't; look it up using google search for free download)
    2. Inside the file package from Yellow Wood, you should see;
    a. _rpg folder
    b. _ds_menu.dat
    c. Read Me.txt and changelog.txt (do not copy over these to the SD Card)
    3. Now just drag and drop the _ds_menu.dat into the _rpg folder
    4. Now copy over the _rpg folder and Coolkill3r's Wood.NDS file into the SD Card
    5. Load the Card in the console and double click the Wood.NDS to load into wood firmware
    6. At the bottom right touch screen you should see a small START ; tap it with the stylus pen
    7. Go to SETTINGS, and tap right several times until you see FILE SYSTEM SETTINGS
    8. At the bottom of it you should see SAVE EXTENSION, change it to .SAV
    9. Press OK 2x and then YES
    10. Done. Time to play

    ** Update it every 2 weeks or so, by going to this link from Coolkill3r: http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=39701.0

    Always remember to backup the SD Card content before upgrading/updating/formatting!

    Hi

    Thank you for replying so fast!

    When I try to put the MENU DAT folder into the RPG folder a little red circle with a line through it appears

    and I cannot put it in, it just doesnt move at all

    Am I doing something wrong ?

    Try doing the cut and paste method to move the file, if you can't do the drag and drop. There shouldn't be any such problem that you indicated.
    -Right click 1x, choose CUT.
    -Open the _rpg folder, right click 1x, choose Paste

    Or see inside the SD Card, if there is no file in it with the name _DS_MENU.DAT, then it should be safe to add it into the SD Card without needing to do the above method. The reason why I ask you to place the wood's _DS_MENU.dat is because to avoid accidental replacing the M3's copy which could cause fatal error.

    Oh dear, think I was doing it wrong
    I was tring to do it in the same folder I unpacked it in, I just put it in the sd card and was able to drag and drop!
    I am not a technical person so I am doing it really slowly lol
    Thanks again

    Its alright. Please continue with the steps as I've indicated in the first reply. I'm sure it would work well after that. Remember to tell your grand child to run WOOD.NDS first before going into the game that she want to play.

    You just need these in your SD Card for the WOOD (besides the M3's original files):
    1. _rpg folder (with the _DS_MENU.DAT in it)
    2. WOOD. NDS

    Edit:
    Each time there's new update, simply follow the steps again. But next time, simply replace these;
    1. _DS_Menu.dat (with the newer version and place it in that same folder)
    2. WOOD.NDS (with the newer version)

    All the other files no need to replace.

    ** Since your grand child's cart is M3 DS Simply, you must always update it with WOOD R4 for R4 Original.
    Do not use Wood for M3 from Gaboros as its not compatible.

    Did you click "replace the _ds_menu.dat" when prompted? That you mustn't do.

    That's the reason why I indicate to you to move the _ds_menu.dat that belong to WOOD to be place in the _rpg folder to avoid this issue as I've mentioned on the first post.

    Did you back up before starting the update?

    If yes, then simply reinsert the original _ds_menu.dat into the main part of the SD Card.

    If you didn't then download this: http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/dl.php/M3_Simply_English_v1.14.zip

    Method:
    1. Download the above
    2. Upack it
    3. Grab the missing _ds_menu.dat ONLY! and reinstert into your SD card.
    4. Hopefully it solve the issue.

    Hi
    I did back up before i started.

    Am I right in putting the menu dat folder in the rpg folder after I have moved them onto the micro sd card?

    I think this is where I am going wrong lol

    Sorry to be so dense !

    Its alright, its not correct method but its alright.

    Now, please re-insert the _ds_menu.dat from the back up file you had made before you start. Which is a good thing you did the back up before starting.

    So that in your SD Card there should be these files;
    1. _DS_MENU.dat (M3's original file / from your back up file)
    2. _system_ folder (M3's original file / from your back up file)
    3. moonshl folder (M3's original file / from your back up file)
    4. _DS_MSHL.NDS (M3's original file / from your back up file)
    5. _rpg folder (Wood's file) with the _DS_MENU.dat (Wood's file) in it **
    6. WOOD.NDS (Wood's file)
    7. your grand child's game files

    **You don't need the woodR4_v.1.23 folder in the SD Card. So make sure to add only the _rpg folder into the SD Card.

    Hi
    I have the following in the sd card

    rpg
    wood r4 v1.23 (CK3).NDS
    system
    moonshl

    DS MENU DAT
    DS MSHL NDS

    Yes, now please try running it again. And go to the WOOD.NDS, and follow the steps (5 to 10) in the first post I wrote to you.

    If you not yet add the games, please do so. And the process should be complete.

    In that case, I suggest you re-format your SD Card ; Download this : http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/

    After formatting, reinsert those 6 files again.

    Please make sure that the _DS_MENU.dat that belong to wood goes into the _rpg folder, while the _DS_MENU.dat that belong to M3 stay outside of the _rpg folder. To avoid crashing again. If you're not sure then I suggest downloading another copy of the _DS_MENU.dat for M3 Simply from here: http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/dl.php/M3_Simply_English_v1.14.zip (Just copy the _DS_MENU.dat from there)

    If that still not solve your issue try the below;
    1. Remove the _rpg folder and Wood.NDS file from the SD card
    2. Download YSM3 firmware from Gaboros: http://filetrip.net/f23896-YSM3-6-48.html
    3. Unpack and insert these 3 files into the SD Card
    a. YSM3.NDS
    b. TTMENU folder
    c. SRESET.DAT
    ** Do not copy the SYSTEM folder, Tool folder, and the READ ME.txt file.
    4. So that inside your SD Card there should be;
    a. YSM3.NDS
    b. TTMENU folder
    c. SRESET.DAT
    d. _DS_MSHL.NDS (M3's file)
    e. moonshl folder (M3's file)
    f. _system_ (M3's file)
    g. _DS_MENU.dat (M3's file)
    5. Run YSM3.NDS from the console.
    6. Done

    Its alright, but I'm really curious as to why you kept getting that error message. Anyway, if that Wood version that you tried earlier didn't work, try this Wood version instead : http://filetrip.net/f23763-Wood-R4-for-M3-1-23.html

    Anyway here are some link that will prove useful for updates/troubleshooting/inquiries :
    1. WOOD firmware from Coolkill3r and Yellow Wood Goblin : http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=39701.0
    2. YSMENU/TTMENU from iluvfupaburgers and Retrogamefan : http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=43121.0

    Try reading the instructions there before starting over. And as always make back up before starting just in case.
