I downloaded ninja gaiden DS yesterday, threw it on my M3DS Real and fired it up. Plays through to certain points and then continually freezes up in the same locations all the time. My thoughts were...

Bad Rom - but I dont see anyone else having trouble with it.

Bad Sector on my memory - could that be it? Should I pull everything off and reformat my SD card?

Older System files - I notice there is a new version of the system files for M3DS real. Could that be it?

Those are my thoughts. Does anyone have the same problems or an idea that Im not thinking about?

    Thanks, Z

It's not a bad ROM, that's very rarely the case, usually if there are glitzes (not included freezes) it's related to the emulator or firmware of your flash cart.

Bad sector is close to the right thing, it's not so much bad sectors as it's fragmented sectors, your files aren't stored continuously so the read/write speed suffers and thus you get freezes when it can't read/write fast enough.

So what I'd do is backup your files and reformat the SD card, then put on the newest firmware version (system files) as that can never hurt. :)

I put the new system files on, re-formated the sd card and I still get lock ups in exactly the same spots. To more acuratly describe what is happening, I get into a room and my touch screen stops working and all I can do is block and the sound loops. I am going to test the rom on my PC and see if maybe something happend when I unzipped it.

Wouldnt it be cheaper for me to just go buy Ninja Gaiden? I have only had problems with this one game.

I got it working. It was the silly soft reset. I forgot I had switched it on.
    Thanks.

Soft reset is whether to be able to reset during any time pressing some sort of combination of buttons, such as L+R+X+Y+A+B etc. On R4, there's a little button in the corner which turns red and green, red to turn it off, green to turn it on. Look for something similar as R4 and M3 Simply are almost the same.

it happened in my m3 simply also, always the same area, and yes, I am using my latest firmware

My R4 does the exact same thing. I've got the latest firmware from r4ds (v1.17) and switched off the soft reset and it still freezes at a certain room and only in that room no matter at which part of the game I enter it. I tried re-downloading it, thinking there might have been a downloading error, but it's still happening. I'm just at chapter 5, by the way. The area I'm talking about is accessible at chapter 1, but it wasn't part of the story so I paid it no mind. But now that I need to enter that area and the game won't let me, it's become problematic. Can anybody help?

Maybe try reformatting your MicroSD? That normally helps with getting rid of freezing cut-scenes etc. but it might work for you. Or it could be your MicroSD isn't fast enough. What brand is it?

When i play it it does freeze at a certain room but also sometimes the tilesets seem to be curropted (i.e the background is messed up at some parts). I have the latest 1.17 R4DS firmware and have reformatted my SD card and it still does it :(

What brand is your SD card?

The brand is Toshiba. Eventually none of the games worked on it (just white screens) so I think my SD card has died but Ive got another one of brand Scandisk, no white screens so far.

What is the best SD card brand?
