Hey I was wondering if anyone here edits the SMW rom on Lunar Magic. For those who don't know you can create your own levels and overworld, i really enjoy it ;D. Please post here if you do!

Here's a link to a Super Mario World fan Hackers (oops, let's just refer to them as mod creators :) ) community forum as well as Mario hacks download site:

i do! but i don't use smwcentral because my snes for ds (snemulds) doesn't take ips patches for snes roms.

quick answer: I DO! it fun =).

Why can't it accept patches? Are you relying on soft patching to apply patches to ROMs? Why don't you just hard patch your ROMs then?

i meant it doesn't take IPS patches. anything else works for some reason and maybe im doing it wrong because if a get a pre-patched one, it works. :-\

edit: i know how to apply ips patches to the rom with lunar ips

edit 2: and i don't know the difference between soft and hard patching. i don't know how each way works.. i only know my way. (i "hacked" smw with lunar magic and it works for my fail smw hack)

Hard patching is when you use a patching utility, like Lunar IPS or in your case LunarMagic to physically alter your ROM with your IPS patches.

Soft patching is using your emulator in a way where it recognizes your IPS patches as you run the game said patches are for, but unlike with hard patching the emulator will not physically alter your original ROM. It will just see the differences the patch has with the original game & run it as if you hard patched the ROM.

Anyway, soft patching isn't actually too reliable & in general Hard patching is what you should prefer.

I have SNEmulDS but I just play the original on it. But I mainly use SNES9X emulator cause it doesn't lag like the SNEmulDS

I remember using Lunar to patch SMB Frustration. I still haven't beat it, but I think in the future I might try editing. After my first couple of flash games though, not before that.

What does everyone suggest as a really nice edit of the SM genre?

The current hack i'm playing is SMW2+3 The Essence Star. Its a really neat hack.
