lol.. I read this description and wondered if I read correctly: For those who have a real life.

Well, I wondered if dancing is classified as a sport. There are competitions, it's a form of exercise and it is a bodily movement. What are the requirements for people to classify something a sport? (I'm just curious)

I like dancing but I am nowhere better than the dead people who can actually... do nothing.

ah, yay!! I'm doing sports even without contact with round objects that have the probability to hit the head. *I meant basketball and volleyball...I have this urge to pop them. I hate these because for some reason their target is my head. I just have a pretty hard skull for surviving each heavy hit...

I wish there are alot of dancing contests. I usually see those competitions with hiphop and ballroom dances and I'm good at neither. I just do normal dance. Like air guitar moves, bouncy steps, etc... and there's possibly no contests on that because it's not normal. No actually, it doesn't look like dancing.

no it's not, being a form of exercise does not make it a sport. it's not art either.

i believe dance can fall in the sports category
-cheerleading is a form of dance, and its a sport
-pole dancing may be in the olympics on the near future

Dancing is an art. It being a sport though, I guess it has to be in the light of competition, as Loony has stated.

There really is no defined medium of art as we would think of it.

It's up to someone to see it as such, even a seagull flying across a dim horizon could be considered art to some.

It's a freaking Ass. AN ASS.
Also, Even if dancing is not a sport, it's still healthy as it excersises many of your body muscles. I personally jump around in my underwear to some Jeff Beck.

    I think it is.
It's in fact a very useful sport (more useful than most)
It's easy to compare certain types of dancing to tennis, soccer, etc. (no, not baseball though :p)
