So here I am with yet another Linux based issue...

I have installed ndiswrapper, and used it to install the drivers for my Linksys WUSB11v4 wireless adapter. things were going smoothly until now...

I click on the little wireless icon on the system tray, and it displays all the wireless networks in the area, I click the one I always use, and it has me enter the WPA key.

now there's a spinning circle where the wireless icon was (trying to connect I suppose), but after about 30 seconds the icon goes back to normal, and a little window pops up that says I have been disconnected...

I was sure that I put in the right key, and connected to the right network...

I'm using a Linksys WUSB11v4 adapter on Linux Ubuntu 9.10

make sure you have wpa_supplicant installed. If all else fails, get a proper linux distro.

that said, support for usb wireless adaptors might not be especially good out of the box.

With all due respect, that's pretty terrible advice. We're supposed to be helping, not telling people to change their OS because we have delusions about the legitimacy of a certain distro. It's like telling someone to install Windows to get something working on their Mac (yeah, it's a terrible example, but whatever).

I'm unfamiliar with using this stuff since I don't use the Ubuntu distro or USB wifi adapters, but you might want to check against this. Loony's right in that support for USB adapters is patchy with Linux at times.

    Thanks Suiseiseki...

but it is a well known fact that Loony just despises Ubuntu in any form
