so, yeah... i keep getting a limited or no connectivity, so i checked some sites, and told me to do a scan on my network diagnostics. well, everything passed besides for Default Outlook Express Mail, to be exact ; InboundMailServer = POP3 and OutBoundMailServer = SMTP.

    Here's The Result

    Internet Service

    [-]Default Outlook POP3/SMTP FAILED
    Express Mail

    [.] InBoundMailPort = 110
    [ + ] InBoundMailServer = POP3 (FAILED)
    [.] InBoundMailType = POP3
[.] Unable to connect to POP3 port 110
    [.] OutBoundMailPort = 25
    [ + ] OutBoundMailServer = SMTP (FAILED)
    [.] OutBoundMailType = SMTP
[.] Unable to connect to SMTP port 25

    [.]Default Outlook
    Express News Not Configured

    [.] Internet Explorer
    Web Proxy Not Configured

The Rest says PASSED so i figured i didn't need to add it.
So any idea how to fix this? (i'm using my sister's notebook right now :p)

do you have an IP address when it says limited or no connectivity? are you using wired or wireless?

im using wireless this is what it shows :

    Physical Address 00-13-02-7F-89-C6
    IP Address 169.254.103.172
    Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0
    Default Gateway
    DNS Server
    WINS Server

but its weird that when i checked this notebooks address the ip adress is 192.168.0.(random number)
    Edit:
i used configfree (connectivity doctor) thsi time and it says that the ip adress wasn't set properly
    now im confused. :-\

I hate configfree it always gave me issues connecting so I ended up doing it manually plus I think using configfree confused my router or something else unrelated.

169.254.x.x is whats called an APIPA address, it cannot be used to connect to anything (except other computers using APIPA, which is virtually never).

192.168.x.x is a proper private IP address and if thats the range in use then that will allow you to connect.

For some reason you are not getting an IP address, so its defaulting to an APIPA address. Since you're on wireless I'd be checking your signal strength and possibly changing the channel (use channel 1, channel 6 or channel 11) as there could be interference on the channel it is currently using.

so i have to manually put it? or change the channel? if so how do i change it?

changing the channel is done on the router, and how depends on the router. You should not have to manually configure an IP address.

They won't let me change the channel since all of the other computers are working fine so yeah.... :(
i dont know what to do anymore

do you have a strong enough signal? do you have the correct SSID and encryption settings?

umm, yeah, the ssid is correct, the signal is either excellence or very strong, and how do i check the encryption setting? (sorry im new at this.)

Since i was lagging, i told to myself that it wont hurt to update my drivers, i went to intel.com and found out they have drivers for wireless networking. i checked it and my driver was way~ outdated. so i installed the latest driver and it worked!
