i think the question on everybody's lips is "is this game as buggy as the old one?"

well after playing for a good long time i think it's safe to say this is the buggiest game of the year :D that's definatley not to say it's bad, in fact i personally think this comes on par with phantom hourglass

unlike before, however, these bugs/glitches/cockups don't really affect gameplay. on the contrary they can be rather funny

i'll give a quick rundown on what i've seen so far (this is all form the star wars prequels, been playing in chronological order)

the first glicth i saw actually halted gameplay and forced me to restart my ds

    1. in episode 2 as obi wan walks in on jango fet the game freezes and the music loops.

    2. episode 2 again, this time free play after fighting count duku. selecting darth maul as a playable character for some reason gave him some funny hat/helmet i couldn't explain. even better was when i got to teh combat hall where you actually confront dooku, the floor was painted in a vivid mash up of pretty much every texture in game.

    3. the texture cockup didn't end there, when i ended the level all the tables in the cantina were spalttered in teh same psychadelic colour scheme as the floor

    4. even better, going outside the cantina left the lego bins and boxes all multicoloured. in the end i saved the game and restarted, and everything was back to normal

    5. characters will occasionally get stuck somewhere and look like they're trying to perform some form of intercourse with said object. eg: my secondary storm trooper suddenly decided he wasvery interested in the bins outside the cantina. i had to shoot the poor guy.

    6. floating lego studs: very frustrating, especially when trying to grab the totally worth it blue lego studs only to fall down a bottomless pit because the stud was just out of your reach floating in the air

    7. astoundingly thick AI (can't tell whether this is supposed to happen). droids will often shoot each other if one is standing in the way of the other shooting. anotehr time a droid tried to shoot from behind a metal box.

    8. secondary characters loosing the will to live: this was also noticed in the pc version, the original trilogy. anyway, very often secondary characters will decide to leap off edges and into bottomless pits. funny.

    9. yoda. oh so often he'll lauch himself off ledges and fall to his hillarious death when using his lightsaber. most notably the battle on chewy's home planet. trying to break boxes with yoda will often cause yoda to simply throw himself off the edge of platforms, regardless of whether there's a fence in the way or not. not really a glitch, more of human error. still annoyingm though

    10. secondary characters deciding they don't like you anymore and pushing me of ledges: i noticed this when fighting general grievious in free play mode. my stormtrooper buddys precence on a ledge seemed to cause my primary character (darth maul, again) to jump and fall to his death.

    11. this isn't a glitch, just my personal opinion, the removal of game engine cutscenes is a major sore point, i feel it doesn't convey the star wars story properly. also, there seems to be a huge amount cut from the actual playable story, most notably anakin's massacare of the sand people goes unmentioned. small humuorous touches i noticed in the pc version (like r2 d2 buzzing sotrm troopers backsides, or storm troopers landing on their backsides, or storm troopers landing on their faces everytime they jump... they're not there, and i miss them

conclusion: other than the total freeze thing none of these glitches actually make the gameplay bad. in fact this is almost precicley a scaled down version of lego star wars from the consoles. the original trilogy didn't sound good, it didn't seem finished and somehow could have been better. the complete saga is much more polished, more engaging and a lot more satisfying. you get the same unlockables as in the console version. i'll probably update this post to take differences between the original trilogy game and the original trilogy in the complete saga.
