Ok, before anyone yells at me...

If you look at the tech specs of the DSi and compare them to the N64, the DSi has a possessor clocked at 133MHz and 16MB of ram. That's more than what the N64 has with it's 93.75MHz possessor and 4.5 MB ram...

So by knowing that, we know that the DSi is powerful enough to run a N64 game. why can't it? or why isn't anyone working on it?

Just wondering, I have a N64 emulator on my psp so I'm not sitting here whining about how nobody has made it for me to use. Just want to know why it hasn't been done yet.

    Rule of the thumb for emulation;

The system you have needs to be at least 7 times more powerful than the system you are emulating.

But the PSP can run N64 games and it has a 333mhz processor.

There is no possible way to run N64 games on NDS/DSi.

    No such rule.

the N64 has two processors at different clocks along with a dedicated graphics processor, which is considerably more advanced than the DS/DSi. It also has dedicated video ram.

Even if the raw clock speed is higher its still not powerful enough.

Makes enough sense, I just wanted to know why it hasn't happened.

But nintendo has the power to make a remake it for the ds right?

They can if they wanted to.

But I don't see this happening.

Possibly, it depends how much of the N64's capabilities are used and what techniques are used. It's not likely that they will; the chances of the remake not doing the original justice are too high.

Hmm, perhaps that only applies to emulating on pc then...

    Alright, sorry for misinforming.

    It doesn't apply to anything.

    Play Super Mario 64 DS. It's a port from the N64 :p
*shot for people already knowing it*

well we know at least it has to be more powerful(not only clock speed).. not a little but a lot..

funny cause the ds cant "fully" emulate even nes.. so i dont see the ds successfully as an emulator..
the psp is a better choice for that..

That's solely because of the emulator.

The emulator was never finished and many games have glitches in them still.

Legend of Zelda will never have a remake, if so it would have been done by now. The n64 emulator on PSP seems to be growing and growing, its the closest handhald to be almost "fully" capable with handling the N64 on it.

3DS however may have a chance.

    Win.

Do ports count-sooooo many of them...

Well it was more like a port, with added features. Nothing was remade much, the colors were edited to match with the gba expectations. Basically there were only new features implemented such as fighting 4 Link's and that's all really.

There's a very fine line between ports and remakes when it comes to the end result. However, a port is only a port if it was made with the help of the original source code. I doubt any of us know for sure whether that's the case here.

At any rate, your point has already failed and you're not going to be able to revive it by getting into semantics.

maybe but nintendo tends to make under powered consoles if you noticed.. well lets just hope that it can and someone can hack it mind you
