LEDs are significantly better than LCD TVs if you're able to stomach the price versus LCDs. LEDs have a better picture, better contrast ratio, and a better refresh rate.

okay, the price really isn't that much higher, for the same size and design the led is only $50 higher than the lcd. plus the site has a payment option so i only have to pay about $85 a month for 5 months

whatever works for you really. led is great in one day and then the next it's something new. first it was lcd vs crt, crt is better but is bulky. then it was lcd vs plasma, plasma is better but had more problems. now it's lcd vs led's. you can get a 32" lcd for the price of that led lcd, why bother with 22".

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+32%22+Class+/+720p+/+60Hz+/+LCD+HDTV/9789707.p?id=1218175546750&skuId=9789707

longer life?! how long do you intend to stay put with that technology?! most people will probably get new tech every 5-10 years or so.

ultra's advice, get a bigger lcd for the price of that led. watching porno on the 32" lcd will be awesome!

Because ultra's always in the right of mind when it comes to advice.

I think that LED TV's picture is noticeably better than LCDs, there's no other way about it. The only downside to it is it's price versus LCD, which the gap has been getter smaller and smaller. If you don't already have an HDTV it's a good time to be looking at LED VS LCD VS PLASMA as they're all now affordable (notice I didn't say 3DTV). I also think that LEDs somehow look better than Plasma TVs despite having a lower contrast ratio, and lower refresh rate (I really don't know why though, meh).

We own plasmas in the house and they're about 2-3 years old now, I'm not planning on changing the TVs for a long, long time. You don't have to upgrade tech every 5 years, especially for a TV, when the price of first release is about 2-3 grand and goes no where but down.

    what good is 720p on a 22" led as compared to a 720p on a 32" lcd?

the smaller the screen, it almost becomes irrelevent to even consider having hd for it.
on a 13" screen tv, would you notice if it was 720p or higher? no.
would 720p on a 22" be any different? probably no.
would a 720p on a 32" be any different? probably yes.

what do you mean it almost becomes irrelevant to consider having hd for it? you cant tell me that a 22 sdtv would be better than a 22" HDtv. and i mainly want something 22" or 26"

Be aware he's asking which has a better picture quality, not price or size.

I agree with you on a 13", but I can notice better quality with 720p on a 22". Also be aware the two TVs (LCD vs LED) he was debating to get were the same size.

My question is why would you settle for anything less than 1080p these days?
I found a 32" LCD 1080p Toshiba for $499 on that same site.

It's still roughly the same price range, bigger, and since it's LCD, it's "cheaper" than an LED version. It's only $80ish more than the LED one you just posted.

1080p is nice but the only thing that actually uses 1080p native, is BluRay movies and some digital cable stations. Satellite can't broadcast 1080p and only a couple games can natively support 1080p, and some games can't even reach 720p (CoD4, Halo, MW2).

Well, you were talking about keeping your TV for a long time, so buying a 1080p would make sense. It's only a matter of time until 1080p now becomes the new "720p" later. My PS3 runs 1080i on my monitor, but as soon as we make the next jump to running everything in 1080p, I'll have to get a proper 1080p TV.

I'd be buying a 1080p pretty much just for Blu-Ray movies, not so much anything else.
