put it in the freezer and turn it on while in the freezer (make sure its sitting on a cloth to stop it getting wet) Does it start now?

you could remove the hard drive and plug it into a desktop (you need a USB adaptor) and copy stuff off it that way

good ideal, but i dont have the time or money to do that becuse i have to send this laptop in for a new one by the 14th so i got some info off the internet and it said to disconnect my laptop from all power sources for the night and try it in the morning so hopeful that works

Remove the battery, hold the power button for about 30 seconds, put battery back in. Now start it with nothing plugged in (no USB, FireWire, etc). See if it works then.

    How important is this data?
Perhaps does this data contain illegal items such as roms?

they don't look at whats on the hard disk, but the dont generally copy stuff either, so if you get a new laptop its gone.

well some saved game files, pics, some school assignments, and a virtual pc hard disk image. and i wanted to copy crysis(cracked) to a usb hdd so i wouldn't have to reinstall it.

You can't do that, it will need reinstalling no matter what. The school assignments at the very least you should have backups of.

So some important data and the game files are bad evidence; if somehow you can get any output from it perhaps you can access the hard-drive?

Just throw your laptop down the stairs one time. the harddisk will be damaged, and wont work.

hard disks have shock indicators so they'd know he did that and would refuse to honour the warranty.
