    I have a Toshiba Sattelite M40-114 laptop.
The screen has stopped working because it thinks it is in "sleep mode"

When one closes it, some buttons are pressed. One of them is broken.
Can you help me with something i can press to make it think it isn't in sleep mode?
I don't want to pay someone to do it :)

sure its not the screen being broken? If not, the buttons to turn the screen off are usually either a little stalk at the top of the keyboard, or in the holes at the front where the lid catch(es) go.

That would be your problem then. Have you tried sending it in for repairs?

Your probably best bet is to send it to its own manufacturer. ;D

Here is what I do...but not advisable.

Pull out the power and pray you weren't busy.

This will shut down the laptop-and when you start it (and get past the accidental shut down/shock of deleted files :( ) disable the screen sleep when you close it.

My dam cord keeps getting snagged-so regualry I get unwanted shut downs...

But I have yet to lose a file.

If your too cheap to repair I'd consider this...

However-can't you press the power button to get it going-my vista laptop allows me to get it going after a sleep by doing so?
