hum i douno im thanking that my cpu is where the fan is and my graphix card is next to the hard drive. and since the ram is next to the cpu it cant be there, theres only two openable parts on my laptop so im kinda gusseing (dont actuly have a screwdriver to open it
wireless card most likely, does it have two wires connected to it? EDIT: I have just looked up your laptop model, it does not have an upgradable graphics card. Sorry.
bumer, guse i wont be able to play crysis at very high setting, wheres the link you found i want to see if the cpu is upgradable, i looked on gateways web site but i couldn't find it (my laptop was said to be an exclusive model made only for that distributor (HSN) so maby thats why i cant find it)
Maybe I'm wrong, but the only thing that I believe can be upgraded is the RAM for a laptop. As for the graphics card, I don't know if there are updates for the graphics card drivers. Maybe you should check for that.
I can't find your laptop configuration. These days, laptops with nvidia or ati cards generally have replaceable video cards. MXM is a type of slot for this. RAM can also be upgraded, as can the CPU. I even upgraded my laptop screen in china to a full-hd one. It simply depends on what type of laptop you're buying (hint: compal). On another note, googling for gateway m-2626 resulted romulation being 3rd on google.
No, very few use MXM, and ATI use something different called Axiom (didn't catch on, so its even less supported than MXM). The general rule is still that graphics cards in laptops cannot be upgraded. KoGM777: I don't know if your processor can be upgraded without looking it up (the list I used before covered graphics cards only). But I can tell you it is not worth it. My laptop has an upgradable CPU and it would cost me £200 for a 1.8Ghz CPU, my current is 1.73Ghz. It's not worth that kind of money for such a minimal improvement. Generally all that can be upgraded is RAM and hard disk.
It is possible to upgrade the CPU, but as loony said, it is not worth it. Apparently the MXM isn't that popular, I just thought that every NVIDIA or ATI mobile card used it. I have a Compal IFL90, which does have an MXM slot (hint: compal).
ah as i said it was a spacial make so i cant find the specs well i guse all thats left to upgrade is my hard drive (the one that comes with it is only 128gb ) but is ther software that can make hard disk images (like the cd ones but for hard disks)?
Psst, get Norton Ghost 8.2, not 12 or 14. It works with NTFS. You can boot it from a usb stick (or a floppy). No installation prior to backup, single files as a backup, high compression. My windows xp sp3 installation, with all small programs and updates, is about 1.7gb packed with Norton Ghost, which also fits on the 2gb flash cart where I boot from.
