Yeah, my mother is out of town (how ironic) and i sneaked on her pc. I'll try to be online often but not as much as usual.
The same shit happened with my Toshiba A135. Technician said the IDE wiring was loose. Hope you get yours back soon, mine took a week :-[
Well, luckely i have(/had) an Acer notebook, the acer companie is very helpfull and quick compared to others here. Acer is one of the best(may i say best) laptop brands. Especially here in the netherlands. The weird thing was: My disk drive opened even though the laptop crashed. Lulz
meh my acer sucks. It's so badly designed that the graphics chip overheats very easily. Add on to that the fact it's an ATI because when I got it Acer didn't do laptops with nvidia graphics, and you get a gamer's laptop that is hopeless at playing games. The onboard subwoofer redeems it slightly though.
