I'm torn - I don't know which to go for, which is where you come in. I'm leaning more towards Killing Floor, since there seems to be a much wider variety of enemies and the perk system sounds incredible... I mean, the Firebug and Commando classes both sound awesome. But it sounds like it's just Gears 2's Horde Mode, with nothing else to it - wave after wave, getting stronger with each one. Sure, it'd be incredibly fun but is there anything to spice the game up or will I find myself retracing my steps every time I play it? I don't particularly MIND that, but compared to the freshness that accompanies every level of Left4Dead in terms of randomised enemy placement... Add in the fact that L4D sounds deeper in terms of environmental and zombie mechanics... Well... You can see why I'm torn. It's either quantity or quality, I guess, and for once I can't pick between them. One has loads of mechanics, plenty to do, but it's basically just wave after wave of enemies so it could get boring after a few playthroughs, while the other has far less mechanics but what mechanics it has are far more refined - and I don't know how I could get bored of a game that always changes where the enemy is. So, RU people, your thoughts?
Well, killing floor I played back when it was a free mod of Unreal Tournament 2K4. I'm going to go ahead and assume this is the same game, as they haven't bothered to change their logo Killing floor will most likely keep you entertained longer. The enemies are funner and the gameplay more "terrifying" in the sense that you've been cut off from your team with no ammo and see a screamer comming up. (Screamers... er... scream and F' your screen. ) In favor of Left 4 Dead, though, it's a satirical but fun look on the whole zombie horror thing. Being trapped in a corner and mowing down enemies is CERTAINLY a satisfying thing. So right now, imagine yourself in a zombie movie, OK? Which on of these things came to mind first: You're screwed, with lowering ammunition and a rising number of guys making it up the stairs. You call for backup, but at the back of the horde you see a monster that just wiped out half your team. 'Shit' you think, then make a run for it. If you can get out of the cubicle and up onto the roof, you might hit a partner along the way... but you haven't heard from anyone in a while, are they dead? IF SO: Killing Floor. It's a genuinely fun game. Somehow, despite it's generic, it stands out. You're standing over a table of a munition, a semi-automatic gun in hand. The only thing that's faster than your trigger finger are the zombies pouring in by the dozens. You and your team were forced into the room when a hunter carried away your best friend, by the time you'd gotten in there... Well, all you had to worry about was getting back out. 'Throw a damn pipe bomb and let's get the hell out of here!' someone yells behind you. 'I see a f'in witch!' You see it too, in the bad, mowing her way through her own hoard, is a witch. With horror, you throw a pipebomb and escape. Where to? Well, there's only one way to go: Forward. If so: Invest in Left 4 Dead. Seeing a airplane crash beside you is cool.... no matter what. You're having sex with a zombie. If so: Get off hentai sites, never watch Shaun of the Dead again, and get counseling, trust me, the money will be better spent.
Left 4 Dead was absolutely amazing. I always used the shotgun. The smg eats up a lot of ammo. I've never played Killing Floor though.
