For some reason a few of the Roms I downloaded have recently stopped working, (Chrono Trigger, DQIV) and I have to replace the ROMS but I have invested alot of time into these games and I am wondering if I can keep my game save. Thanks :)

Should be able to just copy the .SAV file.

But the issue is your card or memory card-what are they exactly?

Can we have a few more details?

What are you using to play the games?
What exactly did they do when they stopped working? Freezing, Crashing, etc?

The SAV files are the save game files. They can be saved and restored to a new copy of the ROM. But if they were working before, and now aren't, then there is likely something else wrong.

In my r4, as long as the SAV file has the exact same name with the NDS file. It'll work. :D

Ex: Chrono Trigger.NDS and Chrono Trigger.SAV

I keep my .SAV file on my Card but it just doesn't register on my new ROM. The issue is some of the ROMS became corrupt so I had the replace them with different ROMS and these ROMS don't recognize my save file. My .SAV files are not corrupt. Is there something I have to do to make my .SAV files work on the new ROM.

It's not the rom-it's the card.

    ACEKARD-R4-DSTT?

...tell us so we can help.

The game freezes on the menu where before it used to work for CT, and DQIV freezes when I fight a certain enemy. There is no problem with the .SAV as far as I am aware. I am using a Supercard one which works fine for all other ROMS.
Does it need the exact same name? because There might be a slight difference.

I don't think it is my card. All other games work fine.

OK my .nds file is '2642 - Dragon Quest The Chapters of the Chosen (E)(M5)(XMS).nds' What should my .SAV file be called?

That doesn't work and for some reason all the save files for my other ROMS are all call like '3426-D~1' For Dragon Quest V.

You do know you're allowed to rename your *.nds file right?
    Code:
2642 - Dragon Quest The Chapters of the Chosen (E)(M5)(XMS).nds
    to this
    Code:
    DragonQuestIV.nds
-and same with the save file

    Code:
    DragonQuestIV.sav

^ you can change the .nds file and the .sav file follows suit when starting a fresh rom.

They need to be the same name yes. Otherwise it's the tag of the savefile which is corrupt and unreadable.
