karma and customize

    maybe enable karma and use some of the forum customizations they have at simplemachines.org?

    We had karma before but it didn't really get used, so we removed it. Which mods were you suggesting? We already have several in use.

    oh right, well there's a whole lot of mods there and since the new 2.0 will come out soon that will have a lot more features right

    if you have a request for a particular mod (with a good reason) I'll consider it, but I'm not just going to install mods for the hell of it; I don't have time. SMF 2.0 has been 'coming out soon' for about a year, so I'm not holding my breath over that either.

    well, I wasn't in the forums when karma was there... at least I think so, but still it's not much use... it's just a number... why would you want karma anyways?

    yeah, I didn't know what karma was either, if you had probably explained it, more people would've used it

    only the admins could give or take karma, it was there to reward people for outstanding contributions to the community, but when people started expecting karma for answering one question or something equivalent, it became clear that it was more of a problem than a solution.

    but was karma on Pre-Kamage, in the Time of Kamage, or The Next-Kamage era?


    Seriously though, that would ahve been a nice idea to keep, but that just gives Mods more work....but I can point out a few not doing their jobs....

    *Ahem*B2k*Ahem*


    Just kidding, but the real reson is that it gives Mods too much work ;D

    oh, and can anyone answer the karma question, using my eras? Thanks ;D

    I don't see us doing anything with the forum until SMF 2 is out, we've tested the new beta they did and while it's nice there's nothing overly revolutionary in there.

    On previous forums giving normal users the ability to give karma just led to abuse, even though you could only give once every 24hours. For example i would karma loony in return for him giving me karma, and repeat every day. I had 12,000+ karma on my previous forum, though never really did anything. I used to get karma just for making someone a sig. I dont agree that karma should be brought back. We all know the stars on the forum anyway.

    Karma is absolutely pointless, and like Almo says, it's open
    to abuse...
    It's something we don't need....just like the ranks...

    The more posts the higher rank, nothing changes besides the text though.
