JAVA on ubuntu?

    i have downloaded the JAVA .bin package...and have no clue on how to install it! I'm trying to learn lots about ubuntu before i finally switch over, could someone please help me in understanding how to install java?

    You should just be able to download it from the Package Manager in Ubuntu.

    okay, new problem...how can i get direct X on ubuntu?!?!

    You can also use a program called Netbeans. It's pretty good if you get the latest version. Though it babies you too much. :p
    I used to use it when I was going to go into Computer Engineering...but soon left cause I realized I hated programming. LOL

    will netbeans work like directx and allow me to use the rendering in Runescape?..

    okay, i downloaded/installed it, then installed a few plugins..i still can't play RuneScape using direct X!!!!

    you cant. Directx is a microsoft technology for windows.

    okay...well..after exploring other options, i noticed theres a VMWare Workstation for Linux...0.0

    Would should allow me to run some windows versions, which in turn will enable directX..which would also permit me to be able to play RuneScape, using a VM of Windows 7, while haveing a host of Linux...hmmmm...

    as long as the virtual graphics card supports directx, which it may well not since its pretty basic.

    well...i took a jump! i installed Ubuntu as my main OS!!! i'm running Windows XP, in a VM, while typing this message to everyone, and direct X is working perfectly on RuneScape!
