At Nintendo World 2011 Nintendo announced the japanese lineup for the 3DS released on 2/26/2011

On a side note the 3DS battery life is only 3-5 hours lol

Charging the battery completely takes 3.5 hours, battery life lasts 3-5 hours?
    lolwut.

Does Nintendo want all their players to play in mute?

They probably meant 3-5 hours on max 3D, Wi-Fi, max brightness and streetpass.

With the screen's backlighting turned down (but not off), you'll get 3-5 hours of battery life while playing a 3DS game. That number extends to 5-8 hours if you're playing an older DS game on the handheld.

Well... I suppose you can away play while charging the 3DS?

Yes you can. But on long trips like bus/train trips though, it wouldn't work too well.
Perhaps Nintendo run out of options for batteries that size that can support the 3DS for long?

you cant play while charging unless you want to play very weird
because you put the 3ds on a mat to charge

    Sigh, that's pathetic for a handheld imo .. =/

What next? A mobile phone with a no battery? You need to walk first a freaking mile before you can call with it?

The battery testing is always based on max brightness and max volume. I'm sure they had the 3D up too with wireless enabled. The battery will be just like the previous DS systems, I'm sure. About 6 to 8 on moderate settings, upwards of 12 if everything is as low as can be.

Kotaku just got their hands on the news first, and being biased as can be towards Nintendo, just assumed their asses off.
