Yay, Firefox 3 is finally here! It was supposed to be released yesterday, but I realized that the developers live in a different timezone than me so..

 

Firefox 3? I've already been at the stable "Firefox 3" release for at least a month. It could have been a later release candidate, though, and I just updated yesterday. Well, it still says I have version 3.0. Period. Good for me, but my Program Files folder and shortcut icons still say "Beta 5". I started using it at Beta 3 on my old computer.

It's over. 8,249,092 downloads during Download Day. The US had far more downloads than any other country, but Germany also had a lot in second place. As of this post, there are 8,609,652 downloads in total. It increased several thousand per minute.

 

Yeah, it's trying to get a Guiness World Record for the most software downloads on the first day (or was it week?). It's much faster though, as well as a bit of extra tweaking, thanks for the link B2k. Managed to fix my Firefox problem, still have to get all my Addons and Bookmarks back.

I try to get this from the link, but when I click download now it just says "thank you for downloading firefox3" but I don't get a file save message or anything??? Do I need to sign up to download?

 

No, if it doesn't pop up with your browser, click the direct download link that should be on the same page.

 

lol im using it right now. it has only a few bugs which will probably be fixed.

the only problem I am having is that it doesn't allow me to use my download manager with it. some downloads firefox download manager pops up, and on others mine does. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

 

When you download something, a pop up window should appear, asking you if you want to download the file, where to save the file, downloading methods etc. Choose download methods, and browse for your download manager. If it isn't there in the list, browse for your executable file.

 

Firefox 3 fails. Firefox 2 loads pages 3x faster than Firefox 3 and also loads video's waaay faster. Tell me when Firefox 3 actually becomes useful. Now I don't know how to downgrade.

 

If you still have Firefox 2 installed, just uninstall Firefox 3.

 

Actually, Firefox 3 loads pages faster in my opinion, especially when you apply the tweaks I posted earlier in this topic. I know change is hard; that's why no one wants to admit that most of Vista's bugs are sorted out.

 

I like the new look and it's definitely faster.

 

Okay so I finally downloaded FireFox 3, because Opera's 9.50 update was crappy!

Yeah it slurped my internet speed to lightning fast speeds, even if I only got a 384kbps connection, but it was buggy!

And now I'm a convert!!

The only reason I hated Firefox's last version was for some strange reason it was uber slow, but this newer version kicks ass!

I'll miss Opera's speed dial option though, but what the heck

 

if you use the about:config and change a few boolean options, it is definitely way faster, even for firefox 2.

my pages load faster than my connection does.
the only thing i don't like with the tweak is the pictures will load, but will move the pictures downward (like all of your sigs).

and for the record, i just crashed firefox 3 a few minutes ago.
i hit back 3 times, forwards twice, back again and close the tab. it hung and then had an incomplete yes and no box.
i had to kill the process. lol

 

Don't forget integer options, booleans are mostly for just transferring data etc. easier from connections. But be careful on which ones you change, if yo're unsure, use the provided link above.

 

i changed a few integer ones but nothing major.
