Someone I know is willing to sell me an Acer Aspire Timeline X 3820 i3 2.53Ghz 13.3" Ultra Portable Laptop for 400$.

I don't know much about computers but the specifications seem to be:

    2.53Ghz I3-380M processor
    8 hour battery life
    13.3" LED LCD screen
    500 GB HDD
    4GB DDR3 Ram

I couldn't find anything more on it. I want a laptop which I can run newer PC games on at a decent framerate. I heard somewhere this was a good gaming computer, but I heard somewhere else, that it has no dedicated graphics card. I can't find much more on and it and I am very confused.

laptops are not good for gaming, especially not ultraportables (they are designed to be low power and have a long battery life). It is almost certain that it uses intel integrated graphics, which are worse than useless.

I had an Acer Aspire One, and I could totally rock Half Life 1 on that shit. FULL POWER TOO. And then it's hard drive crapped out! Good times. I got an actual acer laptop for $500, and I can't play the newest stuff, but I can play some games just fine, like TF2, and FarCry.

half life is an ancient game, I used to play that on a 400Mhz K6 with a 2MB graphics card. With hardware acceleration.

I found this just a few minutes ago:

    http://www.walmart.com/ip/Toshiba-L755D-S5204/16652446

It may just be a Walmart laptop, but a user says: It plays Left 4 dead 2 in high resolution settings. It even plays Resident Evil 5 in high resolution settings averaging 40fps. I ran some diagnosis on it and determined that it can play duke nukem forever with no problems. I'm downloading the demo right now to check it out. If you want it as a gaming laptop. You won't be upset.

Seems like an awesome deal to me. Hopefully the FPS doesn't drop to much around hoards of enemies or in intense combat though.

I don't know about you guys, but an AMD Quad-Core A6-3400M processor and AMD Radeon HD 6520M Graphics seem like an awesome deal for a 550$ laptop.

First off, it's Acer. And second, don't play games on a laptop.

TBH, you can buy this for 100$ more and it can play games. I was thinking about getting it, but still not sure. I will probably build my own though.

If you want to game, get a desktop. That way you can upgrade it as newer games are released

My guess, if you want to play newer pc games, don't go for it. And what is the graphics card?

And one thing, that the walmart one can play L4D2 and RE:5 Is really not worth that much, the grapics in games are getting better very fast, so you will get the problems of lagg and/or unable to play certain games, soon or later.
