Someone told me Doom and Modern Warfare did not have the same concept because in Doom, your enemies were just sprites but in Modern Warfare, you have actual 3D models. So they have two different concepts.
No, we weren't comparing the two. I was just annoyed by him always mentioning how great the game was so I started to argue with him.
Who ever told you that is either a first grader or a complete moron as he/she clearly does not know the meaning of the word concept In this case "concept" is what the games are about, that is to say the back story between the two games. You could also define concept in a video game as the game play mechanics, in this case both games are FPS (First Person Shooter) games. His wrong definition of the word concept is that of "graphics" so you tell him/her to go get a dictionary & read up
no they don't have the same concept but the reason they gave are bullishit. Modern warfare is about war between two human armies, doom is a single marine against demons.
Me: "Or some games have the same gameplay that's been used over and over again for the last 20 years and still somehow sell because of the promise of better graphics. We all know that technology has improved, better graphics is an expectation, not a selling point." Him: "FPS's don't have gameplay that has been used over and over for the last 20 years. First there was running through poorly rendered flat areas shooting at 2D sprites, now there's full 3D realistic cover-based shooters."
